Dog waits outside every day to give his favorite mailman a hug

There’s a two-year-old Golden Retriever living in the suburbs at Grand Rapids, Michigan who has a daily morning ritual.

Moose walks down the driveway just a few seconds before a familiar white truck arrives at the end of it. Moose’s favorite mailman has arrived!

Moose lies down patiently on the driveway while he waits for the mailman to reach him.

Once he’s within grasp, Moose jumps up and on the mailman.

And in turn, the mailman is so happy to see him and spends a minute of his time to play with Moose.

It doesn’t even matter if he had a letter or package for Moose’s parents, Mike and Meghan Gruszynski. He would always stop by to play with Moose.

Their friendship started by accident.

In fact, this mailman was new to this route and had only been assigned to it for a few weeks before he and Moose met.

The mailman was going through his usual route and Moose happened to be outside. Usually, when mailmen arrive at the drop off address and meet a dog, they have to be careful or the dog will run after them. Who knows what the dog could do to them.

Not Moose though. He’s different.

When the mailman stopped at the Gruszynski’s house, Moose saw the mailman and instantly felt an instant affection for him. And happily, the mailman felt the same way towards Moose and they became quick friends.

“It was adorable,” Meghan Gruszynski, Moose’s mom, told The Dodo. “I loved how much he loved our boy and loved how much Moose loved saying hi to him.”

Since then, Moose waits for the mailman by the driveway so they can give each other hugs.

Eventually, Meghan finds out another reason the mailman looks forward to this daily morning ritual.

“I’ve come to find out our mailman’s dog recently passed away,” Meghan shared. “He loves how much love Moose gives him every time he is out on his route.”

She posted the very first video she took of the two of them on Moose’s Instagram account and her Facebook profile, although this wasn’t the first time they met.

“Our mailman stops just to give Moose love during his daily route… it’s the cutest thing,” Meghan wrote on Facebook.

Her family and friends loved the video and had to share it on their own profile.

Their first video received more than 27,000 views on Instagram and increased Moose’s following to more than 21,000 followers.

And he’s become so popular that another use posted the same video on imgur (where it has been viewed more than 1.6 million times!) and Reddit.

Meghan posted more videos of Moose and the mailman on Moose’s Instagram account and their latest video has been viewed almost 57,000 times!

“Mr. Mailman sends the world his love. In all the scare in today’s world, these two have brought us so much joy and love,” Meghan wrote for Moses.

This accidental friendship began in late January 2020 and every day, their friendship has grown more and more.

No matter what happens, Meghan hopes and prays this friendship will last for many, many years to come.
