Handlers line up to dance but their dogs adorably steal the spotlight
Unless you’ve been living under a rock (or just taking a break from social media), you’ve probably crossed paths with the Jerusalema dance challenge by now.
And even if you haven’t heard about it, the most important thing to know is this:
Dogs always make everything 100x better!
Here’s the Jerusalema dance challenge in a nutshell.
People are dancing their hearts out to a gospel-influenced house song from South African DJ and record producer Master KG.
It first took off in 2019 when Angolan dance troupe Fenomenos do Semba filmed themselves eating food off a plate while sweeping the floor with their feet.
Talk about amazing eye-hand coordination!
It really is a very catchy tune.
And apparently, it also pairs well with backyard BBQs, too.
The fact that it’s sung entirely in Zulu by vocalist Nomcebo Zikode hasn’t stopped anyone from grooving to the uplifting beat!
Thousands have joined in on the fun.
This trend has inspired everyone from policemen to schoolchildren to nurses to post their own dance reels on social media.
A quick Google search brings up at least 133K video entries for the “Jerusalema dance challenge.”
That’s a heckuva lot of happy feet!
Behold, an Army of Floofs!
It turns out that talent on the dancefloor isn’t limited to just us bipedal folks.
Thanks to a group of South African dog handlers and their furry partners, this viral dance hit has undergone a clever four-legged makeover.
Put your paws up for these dog handlers!
Sisters Buttons posted their own animal-friendly rendition of the Jerusalema dance challenge which has garnered over 2.2 million views.
The routine starts with the dogs sandwiched patiently between their handler’s legs, while the humans dance around them. But, as soon as the song picks up the tempo, the doggies get in on the action.
This combination of dogs doing tippy taps will have you grinning from ear to ear!
This is why we love dogs – they will happily participate in the same silly activities we do.
At the end of the day, what makes us love dogs so much is their unwavering loyalty and affection.
They have a way of bringing joy and comfort into our lives that is unmatched by any other animal. The bonds that exist between a dog and his human are a testament to the power of that connection.
So what is it about the Jerusalema dance challenge that captures our attention?
Perhaps it’s the simplicity of the dance, which anyone can learn to do just by watching a few videos.
Or maybe it’s the fact that the challenge has brought people together during a time when so many of us feel isolated and alone.
Whatever the reason, the Jerusalema dance challenge has become a symbol of hope and unity during these challenging times.
It has reminded us that no matter where we come from or what our circumstances may be, we can all find joy in dancing together.
