Dog with snout taped shut escapes certain death and finds a new life in the U.S.

Dog abuse is a horrible crime. Even then, some cases of abuse seem to come across as way worse. When rescuers found one dog in Vietnam, his snout had been taped shut so tightly that it left a lasting mark on his beautiful face.

Fortunately, he was able to find a home where he is loved regardless of his deformity.

The rescue group had received a call about a dog with duct tape around his snout. Worst of all, the tape kept the dog from eating or drinking. It was only a matter of time before he would die.

When rescuers arrived, they were informed that more than likely the dog had escaped from a nearby slaughterhouse. Unfortunately, such canine slaughterhouses are common in certain parts of the world. The fact that the dog had escaped was a miracle in itself.

The dog was understandably aggressive

Catching the dog was another thing entirely. After they found him, his fear was so great that it took rescuers and locals most of the day to catch him. Once he was caught, the dog showed some aggression, but who could blame him?

Most people would be aggressive if they had been treated so poorly.

While they were waiting to take him to the vet, a woman walked over and offered some money to help pay for his care. An obvious dog lover, the woman wanted to help the poor abused dog as much as she could.

Looking at his face, the rescuers could see how deformed the duct tape had made his snout.

Getting help

The rescuers worried that he might not be able to eat. But, he was so hungry that once they removed the tape, he devoured his first good meal in probably a long time. Next, the vet gave the dog some antibiotics and an IV for additional fluids. The vet also made sure to give him the necessary vaccines and neutered him.

Now came the hard part, helping him get past his abuse so he could be adopted. Fortunately, with the help of the shelter workers and another dog who he befriended at the shelter, he was soon in much better spirits. Naming the dog Gia, within two weeks he was ready to go to a foster home.

Soon, word arrived that a family from the U.S. had agreed to adopt him. Despite the high costs of transport, the family was willing to welcome Gia into their home. There they would accept him regardless of what he looked like, as they knew in his heart that he was a good dog and just needed love to help him flourish.
