It’s important to get as much exercise as possible during this lockdown. Many people are turning to home gyms and good old-fashioned sit-ups and push-ups to stay fit.

But between kids and pets and a variety of other obligations, burning a few calories isn’t as easy as it sounds, even for those of us with the motivation to work out.

Take Bailey, for example. This sweet Golden Retriever loves his mom and dad so much that he just can’t seem to leave them alone – especially when they’re trying to exercise.

While Bailey has gone viral before for interrupting yoga time, his latest video has been viewed over 2.5 million times in just two weeks!

This time, it’s just dad trying to break a sweat.

In the beginning, Bailey is not amused as he does some pull-ups on his home equipment. After all, it’s hard for a dog to participate in that.

Luckily, dad moves on to some floor exercises, which Bailey thinks are just another way of playing.

Before dad is even done laying down his mat, Bailey takes up residence right on top of it, presumably thinking that anything on the floor must belong to him.

Since Bailey is clearly not getting the hint, dad gives him a hand and moves him gently off the mat.

Then again, dogs don’t really get hints. So after being placed on the couch, the pup plops right back on to the mat.

At least dad is going to burn some calories with all this dog lifting!

As dad attempts a push-up, Bailey once again assumes this is a game and gets right in the middle.

Then he spends some time rolling around on the mat and doing a little barking now that he’s wound up from this game.

Commenters were not at all surprised at the canine antics.

“My retriever does the same as yours, he’s got as much room as he wants, but no, he must lie on my mat when I exercise. Retrievers are the best,” said one viewer and dog owner.

Sometimes, you just have to find creative methods to incorporate your pup into your workout routine in a way that makes them happy. Like this Italian man who showers his pup in kisses with each pushup.

Plenty of people pointed out that it’s not just dogs that seem to think workouts are playtime.

“My cats are exactly like this. Hogging the mat, sitting on my belly when I try to do sit ups, crouching under my body while I struggle with push ups, etc.”

As dad attempts the dreaded “plank,” Bailey has now decided to play fitness coach and add an extra challenge – not only does he need to hold up his own weight, but the dog’s as well.

Good job, Bailey!

Eventually, the furry fitness partner decides to lend his dad a hand by climbing under him to help him maintain his form.

How thoughtful!

And since we all know the best workouts involve a rubber chicken, Bailey ends his training session by bringing dad his toy so they can play a little tug-of-war. We’re not sure what muscles are activated here, but we imagine there’s some bicep and forearm work going on.

It’s unclear how mom and dad actually stay fit with Bailey around, but the fact that they still manage to try to get a workout in after all of his antics shows that they’re committed to at least trying to break a sweat.
