We all know how mischevious dogs can be. As soon as you turn your back, your pooch is likely doing something you don’t approve of. Either way, we love our dogs none-the-less, even if (as this dog was hilariously caught doing) they decide to start shoplifting on the side. The dog in this video snatches a present and makes a run for it.

In his defense, he doesn’t have any pockets to carry his wallet.

Either way, this pooch will bring a smile to your face with these hilarious antics.

A furry fugitive made the news for a snatch-and-grab at his local Smith’s Drug and Food store.

It happened in Murray, Utah, at the local Smith’s Drug and Food store. A dog wandered into the animal aisle nonchalantly, before snatching a treat and darting for the door!

He made a clean getaway but was caught on surveillance camera, employees couldn’t believe it until they watched the footage for themselves.

With canine’s sense of smell being 100,000 times better than humans, the dog had no problem sniffing out the animal aisle from outside.

So what exactly did he take? One rawhide bone – I guess that’s all he could really carry in his mouth. KSL 5 reported on the shoplifting dog and it was hysterical.

Typically, the words “adorable” and “perpetrator” don’t go hand-in-hand. In this case, that description would perfectly fit the bill. The news even interviewed a criminal expert, who profiled the pet-bandit.

“Smelled the rawhide bone, grabbed it, and walked out of the store. Thereby being a shoplifting dog.” Said expert, Marshall Tanner, when profiling the dog.

The manager of Smith’s Drug and Food store tried to stop the thieving dog but wasn’t successful.

KSL 5 talked to the manager of the store and he explained how the runner made it past him.

“The dog food aisle, he knew where he was headed. I looked at him and said “drop it.” I decided I wanted to keep all my fingers so I didn’t try to take it from him. He looked at me and I looked at him, he ran for the door and away he went,” said the manager.

It’s no surprise that the fugitive-dog went viral! Almost 2 million people have viewed the video and left hilarious comments.

Dog lovers everywhere reacted to the video.

“The dog is currently ‘hiding out’… in the store owner’s backyard, the same place he lived before the well-planned “shoplifting” stunt that got the store a nice piece of free publicity and advertising time. I’m joking… but it would be a good idea for any local store owner,” wrote one YouTube viewer.

“La da da i”m a customer don’t mind me I’m still just a customer I have money just looking for the pet isle ok I see what I was looking for and I’M OUTTA HERE!!!” wrote another.

In the end, the dog got away but the bone was only $2.39 and gave the store some great exposure. I’m sure the owner will be alright!
