Golden retriever can’t contain his joy getting newly adopted “sibling”

Known for their loyalty and lovable nature, golden retrievers make the perfect family pet. Not only are they easy to get along with, but they also tend to like other family pets as well. So, when the mom of a golden retriever named Pork decided to bring a new puppy into the house, she was confident that the two dogs would get along, though, she didn’t realize just how big of a positive reaction Pork would have.

When she first brought the little, curly dark-haired puppy named Teddy Sugar into her home, she placed her in a box in a separate room. This was to keep Pork from seeing her and allowed his mom to introduce Pork to his new sister gradually. The problem was, he could still hear Teddy Sugar whimpering and trying to escape her box. So, the longer he waited, the more excited he got.

Finally, Pork’s mom placed Teddy Sugar on a pink blanket so that he could get a good look at her. Soon, Pork was leaping all over in excitement. He seemed so happy to see her. As Pork got closer, Teddy Sugar crept across the blanket until she was nose-to-nose with the other dog. The puppy, while hesitant at first, really wanted to know who her new friend was.

The two sniffed each other all over before Pork started jumping around again. Teddy Sugar did her best to keep her footing and to keep up with her older brother. She even got to the point where she felt comfortable enough with Pork that she took a swat at him with her tiny paw. This sent Pork into another bout of excitement as he sniffed his little sister all over once again.

Why do dogs sniff each other?

The reason that dogs sniff each other is that it is how a dog tells one person or animal from another. With a very well-developed nose, a dog use sniffing, especially in the rear area, the same as a human uses a handshake to say hello.

Eventually, the two moved down to the floor where they continued to play and get to know each other. At one point, Pork hid underneath the edge of the rug they were playing on in an attempt to play hide-and-seek with his new sister. As Pork started to run out of energy, he decided to lay there as Teddy Sugar climbed on top of him, chewing on his legs and swatting at his face.
