Dog is overcome by jealousy when humans hug without him so he forces his way in

A hug is one of the best sources of comfort and relaxation. It can magically pacify a person brooding with anger. It’s also an ideal way to greet and welcome someone whom we miss so much. We also use hugs the other way around, to bid goodbye to someone.

Hugs are beneficial for everyone and what’s funny is that they can even make a dog jealous.

That’s what happened with this Golden Retriever who wouldn’t allow his humans to hug without him.

Charlie is a very sweet Golden Retriever dog.

His breed is one of the best family dogs around because they are smart, energetic, and they love to cuddle. Their majestic fur also happens to be ideal for hugs and snuggles.

“The Golden Retriever, an exuberant Scottish gundog of great beauty, stands among America’s most popular dog breeds. They are serious workers at hunting and field work, as guides for the blind, and in search-and-rescue, enjoy obedience and other competitive events, and have an endearing love of life when not at work,” according to the American Kennel Club.

They go on to say:

“The Golden Retriever is a sturdy, muscular dog of medium size, famous for the dense, lustrous coat of gold that gives the breed its name. The broad head, with its friendly and intelligent eyes, short ears, and straight muzzle, is a breed hallmark. In motion, Goldens move with a smooth, powerful gait, and the feathery tail is carried, as breed fanciers say, with a “merry action.”

Though Charlie is a sweet dog, he also has this high sense of belonging. He demands to be noticed. He simply hates it when he is being ignored and he wants all the attention as much as possible.

This dog feels he should be included in almost everything at all times, especially hugs!

A video surfaced on the internet and it showed Charlie’s outrageous reaction when he saw his humans hugging.

It appeared as though he was jealous because he wasn’t invited to hug it out with his humans.

The dog wasn’t having it, so he forcefully shoved himself in the middle to join the warm embrace of the two.

With his strong will and, of course, his jealousy, Charlie convinced his humans that he deserves to be there.

While he’s wagging his tail non-stop like a windmill, he showers them with licks and kisses. He makes them realize that it’s really all about him.

They finally give in and let him join the group hug.

Charlie feels like he needs to be a part of everything that his humans do. That’s why he’s not letting a hug happen without him being present.

Clingy as it may seem, his family is more than happy to spoil him with lots of attention. After all, this sweet dog deserves it anyway, wouldn’t you agree?

Will it benefit you to hug a dog?

It sure does! Hugging a dog gives unexpected benefits to humans. According to MyAnimals.com:

“Hugging your dog is relaxing, not just for the mind, but also for the body. During a hug, your heartbeat slows, and the brain releases oxytocin. This happens in both humans and dogs, and has a significant positive impact on the body.”

“When the heart rate slows and the brain releases “feel good” chemicals, the body doesn’t have to work as hard. This can help to reduce physical discomfort such as pain and fatigue.”

Well, we don’t think anyone needs an excuse to hug a dog as lovable and sweet as Charlie, but it certainly never hurts to have one.
