Dog who spent her entire life on a chain can now only walk in circles
Keeping a dog chained up all of the time can have a drastic emotional and physical impact on them. Dogs need to be free, to roam, explore, and run. Unfortunately, there are people who are not concerned with the well-being of their dogs.
Thankfully, there are dedicated animal welfare organizations that seek to rescue dogs from this and other kinds of abuse.
Takis Shelter is one such organization. In this video, staff from the shelter are seen rescuing a dog named Frida.
The poor girl was so used to being chained up that she was only able to walk in circles.

Takis shelter rescues Frida.
The video begins with staff from the shelter discovering Frida chained up outside. The little girl is clearly scared and confused.
“She won’t bite you. She is so scared,” a caption on the video reads. “Look how scared she is.”
“The dog lived under shocking conditions drinking dirty water. Walking on its own poo.”
The Animal Advocates society states that keeping a dog chained up can have significant impacts on them.
“Constant chaining makes dogs neurotic, unhappy, anxious, and often even aggressive,” reads the organization’s website.
Frida gets a fitting name.
Her rescuers found a very fitting name for her. They decided to name her Frida after the new she freedom she was being given.
“Freedom! Freedom for one more dog. We should name her Frida.”
They determined that Frida was around 2 years old. As the video continues, Frida begins to realize she has a freedom she never did before. She can move around, she can jump, Frida is free.
“Frida she is so happy my friends, look!”

Frida can only walk in circles.
After having been locked on a chain and only able to walk in circles for so long, however, Frida didn’t know any other way to move. She seemed to always want to go in circles. It would take some time for her to understand the new range of movement she can now enjoy.
“She was always locked in the chain and she is not walking so perfect,” another caption on the video reads.
“Look how she is walking…She is going left and right like a boat.”
“Look at her back legs. She doesn’t know how to walk. She is jumping, its like she is dancing.”
Frida dances in circles around her rescuers.
Later in the video, a happy Frida can then be seen running circles around the person holding the camera and narrating.
“She is so cute, she is walking in circles.”
“It’s because she was locked in the chain in the same place. That’s why she doesn’t know how to walk straight.”

Frida learns she doesn’t have to move in circles.
The man continued to encourage Frida to walk straight rather than in circles. It took some time but the girl started to get it.
“You have to learn to walk straight. That’s it! Straight, not in circles.”
“It’s unbelievable my friends. See? She tried to walk straight but she thinks that she is still locked in the chain and she goes in circles.”
It didn’t take long before Frida was walking straight and playing with the other dogs, however. What great work Takis shelter did with her rescue.
“She is a very active and playful girl. She is always happy.”
Frida finds a forever home.
The video ends with a message saying that they are still looking for someone to adopt Frida. They wouldn’t be waiting long, however. A new forever home stepped up to welcome Frida into their family. Frida is moving to Denmark!
