Dog who thought he lost his family forever doesn’t stifle joy when he sees them in shelter
It’s heartbreaking to see the many animals dropped off at shelters.
Because animal shelters are only meant to be temporary homes for these animals, the staff work hard to get them adopted and living in loving homes permanently.
Cow is one of these animals.
The Louisiana SPCA would like to get him adopted as soon as possible.
Cow was actually found just outside the Louisiana SPCA office, tied to a fence, by a staff member one morning.
They had no idea how he got there or who brought and tied him there.
He was very understandably scared and had no idea what was happening.
When he met new people, he emitted a low growl because he was so scared.
But his tone changed when they gave him treats or spoke to him with baby talk.
Eventually, Cow’s demeanor changed.
He felt more relaxed at the shelter.
He felt more peaceful.
But the staff’s duty is to still get him adopted. He’s already been there for two months.
An animal shelter, despite the loving atmosphere, is not the best place for abandoned animals.
There may be a lot of loving people there with food and a yard for them but it’s still cold and restrictive.
And at the end of the day, the animals will still go back to cages and sleep alone.
The animal shelter isn’t an abusive place, it’s just not the comforting and loving homes these animals need.
So the staff members work hard to get them adopted and live with loving families.
The staff kept looking for the right home for him until they actually found the perfect one.
It turned out Cow had family.
He was stolen a few months prior.
His family had been looking for him ever since and they finally found him at the shelter.
When his mom arrived to get him, Cow just lost it.
He was jumping up and down, off the floors, and off the walls. He was so happy to see his mom again!
“Cow was so excited to see his family,” NeNe Lewis of the Louisiana SPCA said. “He was jumping off the walls and his tail was wagging like we’d never seen it before! You could tell from his reaction when he saw his mom that he was reunited with his family!”
Apparently, Cow had human parents and a human brother and he was so excited to finally be back with them.
Cow probably thought he was never going to see his family ever again. But thank goodness for fur parents who never give up on their fur babies.
Now, they all get to go home as a complete family.
