Dog hilariously mimics owner hobbling on crutches

If youâve ever had a broken bone before, you know just how awful it can be. Youâre put down for weeks, dependent on others for help with normal, everyday tasks, and it hurts every time you move. This is to say nothing of annoying X-ray appointments and cumbersome casts.
Broken bones arenât fun for anyone, but theyâre especially terrible for a teen that likes to be on the move all the time.

This is exactly the predicament one fun-loving teen found himself in after breaking his leg. Not only was the break itself painful, but now he had to learn to deal with walking on cold, uncomfortable metal crutches.
While no one likes to depend on crutches to walk, it happens to the best of us and this teen was taking it in stride, learning as quickly as he could.

The only real upside to having to use crutches is that you learn who your friends are pretty quickly. Most people tend to be sympathetic when you break a bone. If they see you struggling with your crutches, they go out of their way to hold doors for you or help you navigate a difficult step.
Keep in mind that some of the best of friends arenât people, though. And those friends might treat you a little differently than the rest, as can be seen in the short video at the end of this article.
In the clip, a young man is slowly working his way down the hall on his crutches.

Not long after you see the teen, his faithful dog, Sawyer, comes trotting out closely behind him. As it turns out, the boyâs mom is filming him learn to maneuver on the crutches. When she pans in on good olâ Sawyer, though, you can hear her explode into hysterical laughter.
The hilarious dog is keeping a faithful eye on his human, but not to help him. Rather, he is keeping an eye on him to mock the way he hobbles around on his crutches!
Weâve gotta say that the old pup pulls it off pretty accurately, too. The funny little furbaby even lifts the same leg that his owner does when he gimps around and itâs too cute!

Believe it or not, this dog behavior isnât as uncommon as you might think.
Not long before this video was taken, another dog named Tater went viral for something similar. Thousands of people watched him lift his paw and bounce around in imitation of his owner who was trying to cope with a broken foot.
Thereâs also another video circulating that shows a Great Dane hilariously mimicking his owner attempting to do leg lunges.
It would appear that most dogs, in fact, endeavor to mimic their owners. According to one study, this is because, like humans, dogs will practice âautomatic imitationsâ, the process of repeating what you see to learn. It also indicates that our dogs are empathetic to us (as if we didnât already know that), such as when they yawn right after you.

Of course, thatâs not to say that anyone needs a reason to appreciate the humor in all of their canine mockery. Ever since being shared, Sawyerâs adorably hilarious sympathy hobble has pulled in hundreds of thousands of views. When you see it yourself, youâll know exactly why.
