Grieving Goldie mourns loss of his animal friends by staying near them after they pass

Saying goodbye to an old friend never gets easier. You think you’re prepared for it, then the day comes that they pass and it’s like you were never ready.

Tricycle, the three-legged Golden Retriever, makes no secret about missing his friends.

The emotional pooch belongs to a horse rescue ranch in Mineral Bluff, Georgia. Obviously, the name “Tricycle” is an adorable nod to how he only has 3 legs.

Since he lives around lots of other animals, Tricycle also makes a lot of friends. Everything from dogs to alpacas. The sanctuary houses goats, horses, and llamas as well.

The sanctuary is run by Lester Aradi, who first noticed Tricycle’s expressive tendencies in 2016.

When a Saint Bernard/Mastiff mix named Major passed away at the sanctuary years ago, Tricycle wouldn’t leave the burial spot.

Lester snapped a photo of Tricycle mourning Major and posted it to Facebook.

Only a handful of people reacted to the photo of Tricycle on Major’s grave.

That would change soon, though. Tricycle had a soft heart, and he wouldn’t shy away from expressing what his heart was feeling.

And a sad Golden Retriever that acts like it would definitely capture the hearts of people all over the internet. It’s the kind of stuff that tugs at the heart strings and makes people love dogs even more.

Tricycle did it again when Trixie, a 21-year-old Alpaca, passed away.

When Trixie died, Tricycle once again laid beside the grave. He does it for about 3 days each time.

“He normally spends his day laying on the gravesite until he comes in at night.” – said Lester

Tricyclecherishes all the friends he makes – especially the ones who didn’t get to stick around longer.

We all know how much that hurts. That’s why it’s a good idea to cherish the time you have together and let your friends know how much they mean to you.

We know retrievers love their owners and friends immensely, and it’s not surprising that Tricycle grieves so strongly for his other friends.

It’s become such a remarkable character trait of his that he eventually got his own book.

The book, “Tricycle and Friends: The True Life Adventures of a Three-Legged Golden Retriever and His Rescued Farm Animal Friends” is a 32-page-long preschool book starring the titular dog.

“Every animal that has passed over the Rainbow Bridge has been buried on our farm so their spirits can live on where they spent the latter years of their lives.” – Lester said

Tricycle’s sweet way of saying goodbye has gotten him quite the following on Facebook.

He wouldn’t have gotten the book deal if he wasn’t the local celebrity that he was.

There is something incredibly sweet about a dog who never forgets his friends. For an animal to be this expressive of grief, it isn’t really that strange. Animals that are on the brainy side such as dogs, elephants, and monkeys ae all known to grieve their deceased friends and family members.

Tricycle’s friends are all buried with circular stones around them, or a fruit tree planted for the larger animals.

This sanctuary treats every animal as a kind soul that deserves the best life. Tricycle just proves that even more.

The goodbyes never get easier, but that’s why we’re here to cherish every second we have. I hope Tricycle doesn’t get too sad. He should have some play days and treats too for what he’s been through.
