Dog found in dire condition on side of the road gets adopted by vet who save his life

Every story of bouncing back begins with a rescue.

A local Uber made an unexpected detour when he discovered something startling. He found a dog lying limp on the side of the road. No one knew how it got there they were certain about one thing – if the dog doesn’t get the care it needs it will surely die.

He drove the poor puppy to an animal shelter where they quickly scrambled to save the animal’s life.

“Dog fighting for his life at KHS.”

This is how the Facebook post from the Kentucky Humane Society began. And indeed it was a life and death situation for the dog.

The dog was severely emaciated that it couldn’t even stand properly. The veterinarians placed him on a 1 in a body scale that ran from 1-to 9. It was the lowest rate possible which meant he was near death by starvation.

Besides weighing half of the ideal, the dog also endured a lot of infected wounds. There were also maggots crawling all over his body. To put it simply, it would never have survived if it wasn’t found.

Fortunately, the staff of KHS didn’t intend to give up on him.

They gave him “round-the-clock” care and were willing to do everything they can in their power to save him.

But it wasn’t only the medical team who was fighting for the dog. The dog himself was showing the will to live. And despite the state he was found in, the dog remained strong. His fighting spirit reminded the staff of a famous song that goes “stayin’ alive, stayin’ alive.”

They decided to name the dog Travolta.

Travolta then received care from Dr. Bewley. Together, they worked on his regiment for recovery and rehabilitation.

The path wasn’t easy but both of them are committed to the journey. And as days passed, Bewley was hit with a realization – she was falling in love with Travolta.

After being at the doors of death, Travolta found a new home instead.

Bewley fostered Travolta. She brought him home where she discovered funny yet heartwarming things about Travolta – like the fact that it was his first time seeing stairs and a bed.

And as a dog who conquered death, she also discovered that Travolta loves being pampered. So much so that he has grown to love clothes. He got some plaids, sweaters, and even a tux.

After spending more time with Travolta, however, they knew it was bound to be a foster failure.

She decided to formally adopt Travolta, the dog that once laid in their triage. She adopted him on Valentine’s Day which Bewley thought was perfect because it is, after all, a day of love. He even signed his own adoption papers with a paw print.

The shelter eventually released an update about Travolta. It said that he was living his best life with his “best friend and mom Dr. Bewley”.

“He’s stayin’ alive with me now. Forever, aren’t you?” Dr. Bewley said in a video from The Dodo.
