Sweet dog becomes completely obsessed with newborn donkey
Newborns are angels from above! They are often called “bundles of joy” or “a blessing” by their families. We welcome them in our lives with so much joy and excitement. Sometimes, we even get obsessed with looking at their angelic faces! Surprisingly, this cloud-nine feeling also applies to animals.
Just like this dog who instantly fell in love with a newborn donkey.
When Olive gave birth to her foal, Willow, a dog named Colton was quietly watching from the corner. She was completely mesmerized by what she witnessed and instantly fell in love with the newborn donkey.
The excited pooch welcomed her with a kiss and it’s the most adorable thing ever!
Olive, being the mother, didn’t just let Colton get close to her baby right away.
In the first few days, her mother instincts told her to be protective of her newborn, but that didn’t last too long.
As days went by, Olive started to let loose and allowed Willow to wander around, be curious, and go to Colton. She eventually became more independent and increasingly distant from her mother – and ever more curious about her dog friend.
There’s something special about Colton.
It looked like Willow found an animal sibling in Colton, a big sister at that. They were always close to each other – it even looks like she took a liking to the dog’s wagging tail.
Of course, Colton couldn’t leave Willow alone either. The two are a perfect match made right there in the heaven of the Little Buckets Farm Sanctuary.
As it turns out, though, Colton apparently has a knack for knowing when the other animals around the farm need her company.
Colton can somehow and magically sense if someone needs comforting and love. Not only with Willow, but also with almost everyone around her.
She looks after Willow like she’s her real little sister – she’s gentle and always calm around her.
According to Susan Klingenberg, Colton’s mom and owner of the Little Buckets Farm Sanctuary, Colton is their farm’s welcomer.
“Pretty much everyone that I have brought into the farm, Colton is the welcomer,” she told The Dodo.
They also go on morning walks – Colton will walk forward, leading her little sister as they move along.
The bond that they have is so special and even though they can’t speak it out, it’s crystal clear that they genuinely care and love each other.
Klingenberg also pointed out the similarities between farm and home animals.
“A lot of people don’t really connect the fact that farm animals are very much the same personalities as your dogs and cats and they all want to love and play,” she said.
Colton and Willow taught us a lesson.
The kind of relationship that they have is beyond what our eyes can see. It’s a clear example of genuine love and care, considering that Colton and Willow are not exactly from the same family of animals.
They still have a mutual understanding and connection. It only proves that they can also teach humans a moral lesson and that they are not just mere animals.
