Dog owner stumped when he spots “new friend” Golden Retriever snuck in house
Our home pets are not just “pets” but also family members.
We create beautiful memories with them and forever cherish them even during their absence.
But sometimes, they surprise us.
Knowing that they could only live long enough, the pain of losing a furry friend still inflicts an immeasurable amount of pain.
While we, humans, grieve about losing our furry home companions, the same goes for them when they lose a pet friend.
Grief comes for us all.
Do you want proof?
Let’s hear it from an Imgur user who goes by the name “squishiepeachies.”
Just like many other pet owners, squishiepeachies also lost some of his furry companions.
His dog and cat both passed away just a few months apart from each other.
Thankfully, he still has his beloved Golden Retriever named Crosby.
While squishiepeachies was downright heartbroken with losing two pets, he thought Crosby was going to be okay by being the only dog at home.
But he was terribly mistaken.
“This is Crosby. He is the best good boy,” squishiepeachies wrote on Imgur. “About 6-months-ago, he lost his kitty friend, and just over a month ago he lost his best doggo friend that he’s had as a companion since he was 8-weeks-old. Crosby has been pretty okay about being an only doggo, or so I thought.”
Little did squishiepeachies know that his Golden Retriever missed his furry friends so much that he made a way to find a new one all by himself.
And he snuck him back home.
One day upon arriving home, squishiepeachies discovered Crosby’s new-found BFF when the pooch greeted him excitedly and it looked like he wanted to introduce someone.
“On Thursday I came home, and instead of our normal routine of Crosby howling with excitement to see me, he led me straight to the bathtub,” squishiepeachies wrote.
Inside the bathtub, squishiepeachies found a little kitten that he had never seen before.
“This kitty was meowing up a storm,” squishiepeachies explained.
By the looks of it, it seemed like clever Crosby fetched the little cat all by himself.
He decided to bring the kitten into their home either as a new guest or a new furry friend.
“I’ve never seen this kitten before, and although I do have a doggy door, it’s way too high off the ground for this little baby to have snuck in,” squishiepeachies wrote. “Seems to me that Crosby must have brought her inside.”
Looking closer, the kitten actually looked a little familiar.
“She has an uncanny resemblance to the kitty friend he lost 6 months ago,” squishiepeachies explains. “I talked to the neighbors surrounding my house and she’s been seen before, but no one knows who owns her.”
To know if the kitten belongs to someone, they checked to see if it was microchipped, however, it wasn’t.
Making the final call, squishiepeachies, had to make a decision.
“She was, however, spayed just a few days ago, and is thought to be about 4 months old,” squishiepeachies said.
It’s now or never.
“The vet basically told me that if I took her to the shelter she’d be put down because there are already over 300 kittens at the county shelter alone that need homes. He said I could try putting her outside and hope she goes home, or I could keep her.”
Finally, they decided to take the kitten in and make him the newest furry member of their family.
Later on, they called the little cat Raina Lil Ray-Ray, the name was suggested by squishpeachies’s high school students.
The Imgur user ended his story by writing:
“I guess Crosby didn’t like being an only doggo after all.”
