Adorably clever dog plays dead just so he won’t have to leave the park

Has your dog ever slowed down or simply stopped walking when they didn’t want to leave the fun (or perhaps leave home to go to the vet)?

Well, consider yourself lucky, because that’s only a little resistance compared to what Vincent puts his owner through when it’s time to leave the park.

The dog’s hilarious antics were recorded by a woman (not the dog’s owner) who was strolling through a park in Queensland, Australia just a few weeks back.

Her video now has over 1.8 million views because people just can’t get enough of Vincent’s drama.

Nicola Booth uploaded the video to her Facebook page with the caption:

“Next time you get irritated by your dog for being too slow on their walk spare a thought for this dog owner I met this morning.”

The video is truly hysterical and even drew the attention (and some laughs) of people nearby.

It all begins with Vincent lying in the middle of the pavement, sensing it’s time to go home and unwilling to oblige. His owner stands over him, pleading with him to get up so they can leave.

Nope.

The owner tries taking his paw and giving him some belly scratches to move things along, but that’s really just convinced the pup that laying there is a great idea.

There’s only one thing to do – aside from picking him up – that will get him to give up his public performance and that’s ignoring him.

Vincent’s owner walks away as the pup continues to play dead.

And of course, that works – what’s the good of acting if there’s no audience?

Vincent gets up and sees his dad on the move.

The pup reluctantly gets up to follow.

But this isn’t the final act of Vincent’s comedic performance.

He allows his owner to grab his leash but then refuses to budge.

As his owner tugs (just a bit), the dog remains stubborn and unwilling to go any further.

He’s now drawn the attention of an even bigger audience, which is just fine with him!

As his owner tries to walk away with him, Vincent “dies” again.

He’s now getting laughs from all over the park as his poor owner just tries to go home.

The only way to get the pup to move at all is to drop his leash and pretend to leave without him, so the owner tries that tactic yet again.

No dice.

If you simply saw that photo, you might feel bad for this wicked smart dog, but he’s having a great time at the park today.

Torturing his owner is apparently a really fun game.

As his owner grabs the leash again, Vincent’s audience grows.

This is absolutely the reaction he’s after.

Next, the owner decides that perhaps moving in the other direction will help convince Vincent to move.

It does not.

The frustrated owner pops into the nearest business and calls the stubborn dog from there, hoping he’ll notice he’s been “left” once again.

Once Vincent realizes his owner is many feet away – and perhaps having a good time without him – he gets moving.

The video is so hilarious that still photos just don’t do it justice.

We highly recommend scrolling down below to watch the video in full.

We have no idea if Vincent’s owner ever got him home or if he’s still laying on the pavement in that park.
