Dog plays fetch by himself — with the help of a trampoline and perfect timing
Dogs are smart, some more than others. One dog in particular is making a name for himself after a video surfaced of him playing fetch online.
The catch … he was playing all by himself. How, you might ask? Through the ingenious use of a trampoline and some impeccable timing.
Keeping himself occupied
The dog, a Labrador named Bear, is a super-smart dog and normally plays fetch with his owner. For some reason, his owner was not able to play on the day that the video was shot. But Bear did not let that stop him.
He was able to come up with the smartest way to keep playing fetch all on his own — by using his family’s trampoline.
How Bear plays fetch with himself
Bear starts by grabbing the ball in his mouth, then he gets it started rolling across the surface of the trampoline. Next. He runs quickly underneath the trampoline, hitting it with his snout from underneath. The ball bounces, causing it to move further across the trampoline. Finally, Bear runs out the other side and grabs the ball as it falls.
Then it is back to the other side of the trampoline where Bear performs his feat all over again.
How did Bear learn this miraculous trick?
Bear’s owner, Stephanie Venuta, says the clever dog discovered this particular trick after watching her kids jump on the trampoline.
“When our kids were little and bouncing, he would bounce with them,” Venuta told Daily Mail. “As they climbed in, he would drop a ball in the net with them.”
Capturing it all on video
Bear’s owners were able to catch one of his fetch sessions on video and posted it online. Eventually, it was picked up by news outlets and was even featured on Facebook, where it has gotten over 3 million views.
It seems people can’t get enough of the super-intelligent dog.
Keeping your dog entertained while you are away
Fortunately, Bear was able to find a way to keep himself entertained while his owners were away. To keep your dog occupied and out of trouble while you are not home, you should provide them with plenty of toys to play with. You should also switch out their toys occasionally to keep them new and exciting.
Another way to keep them from causing too much trouble in your absence is to play with them when you are home. While keeping them healthy, play and exercise stimulates their mind and helps them get rid of their excess energy.
By keeping your dog happy and healthy, you can ensure they remain happy, even when you can’t be there with them. Though, if you have a dog as smart as Bear, chances are they have found their own ways of keeping themselves entertained.
