What can capture millions of views in just a few weeks? An adorable dog video, of course.

The latest viral sensation is a bit of a mystery when it comes to its origins, but has shown up on Facebook and YouTube dozens of times since December 2019. It shows a man in an office looking at security footage with his dog nearby.

It doesn’t sound hilarious, but in less than one minute the dog manages to pull a stunt that would make any animal lover smile.

The video (of a video) begins with the dog in question clearly wanting to be closer to his owner. He looks over multiple times from under another desk in the room before he decides the floor won’t be good enough – he’s going to need a chair if he wants to get on the same level.

Luckily, the other desk has a rolling desk chair.

Using all the dog brains he can muster, the sweet pup manages to get the chair out from under the desk.

Then the two look at each other in what appears to be a bit of a showdown. Is the dog misbehaving? Does the owner see what he’s doing and find it as adorable as the rest of us?

We sure hope it’s the latter.

And since dogs can’t really be deterred once they’re on a mission, he finishes the job after the staring contest.

Even if his owner is in a bad mood, he still wants to sit next to him – that’s the beauty of dogs!

(Now, he could just be trying to jump up on the chair and that’s what makes it slide across the floor, but that doesn’t make it nearly as sweet, so most viewers are happy to ignore that possibility.)

Now that the man at the desk knows he’s coming, he appears to be getting ready to get a photo of his canine companion. However, in doing this he raised the ire of nearly every person on Reddit who shamed him for not immediately petting the needy dog.

Finally, the dog gets his chair all the way over to the desk and the man laughs, appearing to say something to him.

That’s when the dog nudges him in the face and climbs up into the backward chair in order to sit next to his comrade and watch the screens. And that’s when things get truly adorable!

His tail starts wagging, they share another nudge, and the duo is now poised to continue work as a team. The man gives the dog a good laugh and seems to be taking a photo for posterity.

Now, here’s where he really should have pet the dog. While we’re not ready to grab the pitchforks like the people of Reddit, we do kind of want to reach through the screen and give him all the hugs.

People feeling bad that dogs aren’t getting all the pets they deserve even have their own subreddit! That’s right, you can go to u/PetTheDamnDog and see all sorts of doggos in need of a good belly rub. The Internet is so weird.
