It’s incredibly hard when a family member in the military is deployed overseas, and it’s just a tough situation for everyone involved. For both the brave men and women in uniform who risk their lives to defend our nation’s freedom and for those that are waiting for them at home. You miss a ton of special moments and interactions with each other and everyone just wishes they could be together.

For pets, the whole situation is incredibly hard on them as well. After all, they miss their master and can’t grasp what’s going on.

When the service person finally comes home – everybody usually can’t contain their emotions. The whole thing is incredibly overwhelming, and there are plenty of heartfelt and wholesome reunion videos of family members and pets with their loved ones in the military. When a four-footer reacts to an owner coming home from deployment, heart-melting footage ensues.

In the following video, mom Janna Berger went to army training for eight months without coming home. After reuniting with her family, she had one more thing to do: say hello to the most important four-footer the world, her own dog!

Berger missed her dog, Murphy, greatly while she was away. Luckily, the pooch was in great hands with the woman’s parents during this difficult time.

“I thought about Murphy every day. Being away from him was the hardest thing I’ve ever had to do,” the soldier said to The Dodo.

And the four-footer definitely had a void in his life ever since his mom owner left for military training. In fact, the poor dog even waited outside of her bedroom every single day, hoping that she would one day return. Luckily, even though it took eight months, mom finally came back home and Murphy couldn’t hold back his excitement.

When Berger finally came back home, her family decided to film the reunion with Murphy. The footage is just absolutely adorable.

Berger, who is still in uniform, is waiting outside of the home and Murphy doesn’t suspect a thing. The woman then calls his name and he rushes outside in seconds, but then something strange happens.

The four-footer gets closer, but it seems like he’s a bit scared and then almost immediately heads the other way.

Berger figured that Murphy didn’t recognize her at first, so she called his name once again.

This time, the pooch started to take a closer look and approached her more closely. Nothing happens, or at least until the woman takes her hat off. Now that the face isn’t obstructed, this four-footer starts barking uncontrollably and can’t believe his own eyes.

“It’s me”, the woman keeps saying as the four-footer gets closer and closer. When Murphy had realized that his loving owner had actually returned, he made a run for her lap and gave her a very warm and big snuggle. The four-footer is clearly overjoyed and sniffs her scent, it’s as if he still can’t believe that mom finally returned home.

The reaction is absolutely priceless, and you can just see the smiles on both of them. It’s absolutely adorable, and Berger couldn’t be happier that she’s finally together with her best friend again.

“I had no idea Murphy would react the way he did! When he didn’t recognize me at first, I was so heartbroken. The happiest moment of my life was when he finally figured out it was me.”

Luckily, Murphy will be spending a lot of time with his mom.

Berger’s training is officially over, and she plans on moving into a new home with her loyal pooch.
