So they arrived and saw a 135-pound dog who was enjoying his time browsing around the store. Bentley spent a couple of hours inside, preventing employees from closing.

And going home.

They soon learned that the big pup escaped from his home by going through a broken gate. Bentley lived just a few blocks away so he decided to head on to the store.

In one Facebook post, the Bradenton Police Department wrote: “Officers responded to a call about a customer who pawsitivily refused to leave at closing time.”

“The shopper was Bentley, a giant pooch who wandered away from home, into the store & spent hours browsing,” the post continued. “Officers found Bentley’s owner & returned him – no receipt required!”

Thanks to a microchip which reunited the dollar store dog with his family.

Bentley’s dad was super worried when he realized the dog was missing. He was very thankful to the store employees and all the officers who stayed with and contained his mischievous pup.

The amusing encounter was caught on the officer’s body cam.

Just look at Bentley roaming around the store as if he had plans of buying something. He then greets the responding officers with a wagging tail and a huge grin on his face.

A viewer chimed in on the incident saying,

“Honestly respect to the store owner for not just forcing him out and instead trying to get him home. The poor little guy would have gotten hit by a car if they didn’t take the time to call someone and just threw him out in a hurry to close up. And he’s a smart dog because he knew staying in a place with lots of people would be his best way of getting home.”

He is one friendly dog. And the pup kept approaching the officers too. So what else was there to do but take a picture with the big pup? Put it on Instagram and hit like!

Bentley’s owner arrives at the end of the video, relieved that the big pup was in good hands. To be fair, Bentley seemed to be perfectly fine walking with the officers.

He could have ended up at the station and be totally fine with it. That’s a dollar store dog alright!
