In another story of a dog risking its life to save others, Ben the Bordernese was able to save the lives of his owner’s children from a house fire. Thank goodness, Ben’s owner, Colleen Rauschenberger, had decided to take a chance on him when she was looking for a dog. At first, she did not care much for him from his photos, but after meeting him in person, she quickly fell in love.

When the family had to move into an apartment, their landlord would not let them bring Ben to live with them at first. Eventually, the landlord had a change of heart and Ben was allowed to come to live with Rauschenberger and her family.

This was fortunate as soon after Rauschenberger was out, having left the kids with a babysitter. During the night the house caught on fire. Ben was there to wake up the babysitter who was able to get all of the kids out of the house. If not for Ben, the children probably would have all died.
