Mama dog reunites with her 12 puppies a year after their adoption
Homeless and pregnant, all this mother dog could do is hope for the best.
Bess was found in the streets of Tennessee as a stray. And with her condition, it would’ve been difficult for her to go through the pregnancy, especially with a litter as big as hers.

And while hope seemed elusive, she was about to find out that there are people who will go out of their way just to give her and her puppies their rightful chance to live a fulfilling life.
Tracey Stewart jumped in to help the pregnant mother.
The New York Times Best Selling Author and writer of Sucker for Puppies, together with her husband Jon, took Bess into the emergency room.
One of her puppies, the smallest one named Burrdie, blocked her birth canal. She was in the canal for around two to three hours and was running out of air. It would’ve been fatal for Bess and the rest of the litter if she wasn’t taken off the streets.
When the puppy emerged, it was clear that she wasn’t in her best shape.
The medical team wrapped a small pink bow around Burrdie to help them identify who needs extra care among the puppies.
It was a necessary move, especially when there are 12 puppies to juggle after Bess gave birth. They knew that if any of them would be compromised, Burrdie would be the first one.
But it wasn’t only the smallest one who was in danger. The veterinarians said that with a litter this big, not everyone will survive.
That was not an option for Tracey.
She called back home to have their furniture moved. They made calls to friends and family who have spare time and asked them to babysit the puppies. As one nanny shift sleeps, another takes the shift. They made sure that all the puppies are looked after around the clock.
Bess, meanwhile, did her best to be a mother. She was attentive to her puppies and was always looking after them. A small squeak and she’ll veer her attention to the puppy in need. With whatever time that was left, she gets some sleep.
Eventually, when they all grew up, the team need to face the reality that they’ll be given away.
Bess was the first one to go. By this time, her puppies are a bit independent and have possessed their own personalities.
Fortunately, all of them were adopted by friends and family. As a stray dog in the streets of Tennessee, this ending would’ve been good in itself. The team, however, had other plans.
A year after the adoptions, they decided to call for a reunion.
Burrdie, Ginny, Gracie, the Rubies, Osa, Louis, Drake, Rupert, Ranger, Seven, and Sandy all grew up to be good boys and girls for their humans. It was surreal to think that at one point, they weren’t expected to live.

The moment was only made much more special when from the porch Bess looked at her litter, all grown and happy. And in turn, her litter was more than excited to spend time with the dog that brought them into this world.
They tumbled and played just like the old days, and with this new lease on life, they carry a promise of living their lives to the fullest.
