A hilarious video of a dog competing with his baby brother for food has recently taken the world by storm after the dog said ‘mama’.

As any mother can tell you, hearing your baby utter their first word is an amazing feeling. Even better, though, is when that first word happens to be ‘mama’. Some parents want to hear the word so bad that they will try to force it to happen, lovingly, of course.

That was Andrea Diaz-Giovanini’s decided approach when she tried to bribe her baby to say ‘mama’ to get a bite of her dinner. What happened next, though, has everyone in stitches.

Andrea also has an uber adorable Australian Shepherd mix pup who goes by the name of Patch. In addition to being too cute for words, the dog is also boasting some seriously superior smarts, too. If there is one thing to know about Patch, it’s that he is definitely a rewards-motivated type of learner.

When it comes to gettin’ down on some tasty treats, well, there’s just nothing he won’t do to get his prize. Even if it means outsmarting his baby brother.

The senior dog is 10-years-old now, and he is doing a bang-up job of proving that old dogs can, in fact, learn new tricks. When Patch saw his human waving a food-loaded fork in front of her baby’s face, and consequently his, as well, he knew that Andrea must want something from them. After all, treats aren’t just handed out for free, right?

Andrea’s son’s name is Sam, and when she holds the food just inches away from her 9-month-old baby’s face you can tell she has both of their attention.

In the video, Andrea starts sweetly telling her adorable baby to say ‘mama’. Tempted and confused, though, Sam only stares back at his mom as if she’s a little nuts. Patch, on the other hand, is determined to figure out the trick to scoring the grub.

As Andrea continually repeats the sentence “say ‘mama'”, you can watch a wave of understanding come crashing over the dog’s face. He’s figured it out.

Suddenly, Patch pulls his head back and howls out the word ‘mama’ quite clearly, shocking both his mom and his baby brother.

After the initial shock of watching her dog talk, Andrea bursts out into a peal of laughter. In the meantime, baby Sam has also noticed what the dog managed to do, and he is just a little bit beyond annoyed.

Like we said, Patch is a really smart dog. The moment he saw food dangling in front of his face, he knew something was expected of him and he had to figure it out. Of course, we can’t expect baby Sam to know that. Patch does have 9+ years of experience on him, after all. The keen pup knows the stakes of this game.

Even still, the baby didn’t like what the dog was up to.

When Sam realized that he was in a competition for his food with Patch and that the dog was winning, he decided that he just couldn’t let that happen.

The baby hilariously shoves the dog’s face aside, the universal move that says “back up off my Kool-Aid.”

It’s no wonder that the world has fallen in love with this outrageous baby-dog-duo! After their game was over, Andrea made sure to give Patch some tasty treats. He did say ‘mama’ first, after all. To see the hilarious doggy conversation unfold, watch the video below.
