Dog ironically shreds book ‘Guide To A Well-Behaved Dog’ when left home alone

When dogs decide to misbehave, they can usually cause some major damage to the items around them. Whether it’s a favorite pair of shoes, a piece of furniture, or other treasured items, dogs seem to know just what to destroy to make us regret whatever we did to deserve their wraith.

One dog, in particular, decided to show his dismay by focusing his ire on the very thing meant to help his owner deal with his misbehaving ways.

When Rev’s owner left him at home while he went to school, he had no idea about the mischief his dog would cause. Like most dogs, whenever Rev gets bored, he likes to get tear things up. So, when his owner arrived home, he was shocked at the mess his dog had made.

A video shows Rex’s destructive behavior as his owner arrives home from school. When he walks in, he can’t believe his eyes.

Scattered around the room are the remnants of what looks like a book.

Rex’s owner looks on in dismay at the destruction Rex has wrought, and at the small pieces of paper scattered across the room.

Rex clearly didn’t care for this particular book at all.

Fortunately, Rex’s owner had the wherewithal to get his phone out and record the results of Rex’s anger. As he pans the phone around the room, viewers get a first-hand look at just how much mischief Rex had gotten into.

Hopefully, that would all change once Rex’s owner got to read the new book he had gotten.

Hilariously, Rex’s owner realizes just which book Rex decided to demolish.

Head held low; his owner comes across the scattered remnants of the one book that could have made the difference in changing Rex’s behavior.

As he looks, he spots what is left of the cover, the mangled words, “Guide to a Well-Behaved Dog” staring back at him. Whether it was a happy coincidence or if Rex really doesn’t want to learn to behave, the destructive dog seems to have gotten a reprieve from obedience training, at least for now.

Why does your dog destroy things?

As for why Rex would behave in such a way, the answer is probably pretty simple. Most dogs get destructive when they are bored, stressed, or anxious. So, whenever they are left home alone for longer periods of time, you could come home to a mess, much like Rex’s owner did.

Fortunately, there are some easy solutions to your dog’s destructive behavior. Start by making sure that they get plenty of exercise. Next, get them some new toys to play with while you are away. This helps stimulate their brain and can dissuade them from tearing things apart.
