Dog siblings have run-in on street and immediately recognize each other
Family reunions are the best, but most of these happy gatherings are being postponed because of the COVID19 pandemic. Most families are in home-quarantine and this prohibits them from meeting family members whom they long to see.
But that’s not always the case, because nothing was able to stop these two dogs from reuniting with each other. And they are no ordinary acquaintances – they are siblings!
Meet Rosie and Monty!
Rosie and Monty are Cockapoos from the same litter and, ever since birth, these two have been the best of buds.
“There were six of them. But Monty and Rosie were always together,” Susan Killip (Rosie’s mom) told The Dodo.
Then, one day, Monty was adopted by Jean and David Kidd (Killip’s friends).
They live in a nearby village and they watched Rosie for a couple of weeks but lost touch with them after that.
Since then, the two dogs never saw each other again.
According to Dogtime.com Cockapoos are:
“An adorable, small dog with the personality of a big clown, the Cockapoo is the first of the âdesigner dogsâ (not a purebred dog breed), dating back to the 1960s, rather than to just a few years ago.”
“Breeders combined the Cocker Spaniel and Poodle breeds to make a completely people-oriented hybrid whoâs intelligent enough to train easily, hardly sheds, forgives quickly, and is so affectionate that youâll never feel alone. You might even have to shut the bathroom door for a minute of privacy.”
Well, they certainly got the affection part right!
One lovely day, both Rosie and Monty’s parents just happened to decide to go for a walk.
They never had the slightest idea that they would bump into each other and when they did, it was the sweetest surprise reunion for them.
The two long-lost siblings immediately recognized each other!
It’s almost as if they hadn’t been separated for the last 10 months.
“It was so lovely, they both just jumped up and hugged each other,” Killip said. “It was amazing they remembered each other after 10 months of not seeing each other.”
The two Cockapoos jumped right on each other and gave each other a hug. Their parents couldn’t believe their eyes, it was such a touching act between the two dogs who seemed to have missed each other so much.
Rosie and Monty’s sweet moment was shared by Libby Pincher on her Twitter account.
She also shared a conversation with her dad who described the siblings’ reunion by writing:
“So, Dave was out walking his dog, and there was a couple walking towards him with a white version of his dog. Turns out they are brother and sister from the same litter. But instead of just playing like they do with other dogs, look at this.â
The tweet has gone viral since then and already has 196.9K retweets and 936.3K likes.
Though there are some doubts if the dogs really recognize each other as siblings, Killip and the rest of the people who reacted to Libby’s tweet are convinced that there’s no question about it.
From the looks of it, we’d have to say that we agree!
There might not be any actual evidence that dogs really recognize their siblings, especially after being separated for quite some time.
What we do know, however, is that dogs can obviously have a special connection and bond with other dogs.
It’s also possible that Rosie and Monty feel comfortable with each other because they come from the same breed.
Whatever the case may be, one thing is certain; these two sure were happy to see each other!
