Dog ‘hates baths’ but gets caught sneaking to neighbor’s for bath with kids

Dogs love to make friends! Human or animal, it doesn’t matter. And once they make friends, they love to visit and play as much as possible. And dogs are clever! They have great memories and an incredible sense of direction. Some mischievous dogs will even hop a fence or sneak out the back gate to visit their dog friends down the street.

Aeida, a Staffordshire bull terrier, became best friends with the next door neighbor’s dog, Cashew. They ask their humans every day to see if they can visit their best friend, and even are visibly sad when they’re apart.

Dog friendships are so wholesome!

So their humans came up with a way to make it easier for the two pups to play together when they wanted.

They built a small opening in the fence between their homes in Melbourne, Australia, which acted as a little doggy door, allowing the two to come and go as they pleased.

The two besties could finally see each other whenever they wanted!

Not to mention their parents didn’t have to worry about scheduling play-dates anymore. A win win!

Aeida didn’t just love spending time with Cashew, but also Cashew’s human brother and sister.

Aeida’s parents couldn’t find her anywhere one day, and assumed she was hanging out with Cashew next door.

But she wasn’t there either. She was hanging out with someone else…

Aeida, the little mischief maker, had jumped into the bathtub with the neighbors’ kids!

Aeida’s mom, Nicole Ackehurst, told The Dodo that both she and the neighbors had been shocked by Aeida’s behavior.

“Aeida is very friendly and loving. She really just loves everyone and anything — especially our neighbors’ children. Our neighbors sent us a Facebook message with Aeida sitting in their bathtub.”

They weren’t surprised that she wanted to play with the kids, but were shocked to see their dog in the bath.

Why? Because Aeida hates baths!

If it meant getting to play with the kids, though, she was apparently willing to dive right in! And not just once or twice – she started visiting the neighbors for every bath!

Aeida is now a permanent part of the neighbor kids’ bath time ritual.

Thankfully the neighbors weren’t mad about the visit – or the mess it must have made! They get a kick out of having Aeida at their home just as much as the kids do. And she isn’t just a regular dog – they see her as an extension of their family.

Aeida is a little bundle of muscle and cuteness, and fits in the bath perfectly. She gives the kids lots of laughs and turns bath time into play time.

Fortunately, both families get along with each other’s dogs so well, and are both happy to welcome the other pet into their homes at any time. It could have been a very different story if Cashew’s family wasn’t excited about Aeida’s unexpected bath time visit. But Cashew’s whole family love Aeida’s antics!

The two pups still get into lots of mischief together.

“She will join them at bath time at every chance she gets. I’m pretty sure our neighbors love having her over, just as we love having Cashew come over, too. Aeida and Cashew are great friends and have such a strong bond. They’re both considered great parts of our families.”

Aeida has learned to love baths at the neighbor’s house so much that she sometimes jumps into the empty tub hoping that someone will fill it up and come play with her.

How adorable is that?!

Both those families are so blessed to have an animated dog like Aeida in their lives.
