When Aeida the Staffy joined her mom, Nicole Ackehurstâs, home in Adelaide, Australia, she became instant best friends with Cashew, the dog next door.
From the first time they met, they have been inseparable.
They spent so much time together every day that their parents decided to install a doggy door between their two houses. Now, Aeida and Cashew can move between each otherâs house easily.
They donât go anywhere anyway except each otherâs house so it just made sense for their parents to create an easier for them to see each other.
This also made it easier for Aeida to play with Cashewâs human brothers and sisters, too, when sheâs at their house.
âAeida is very friendly and loving. She really just loves everyone and anything â especially our neighborsâ children,â Nicole told The Dodo.
When Aeida goes missing, her parents donât need to worry. They know sheâs just at Cashewâs house playing with them. And even when they couldnât find Aeida during the evening, theyâre still okay because they know where she was.
She loved playing with Cashew and the human kids all the time so they know sheâs only there, playing with them.
Thatâs what they believed until Nicoleâs neighbor sent her a photo. The photo showed Nicole what Aeida did in their home during the evening when she goes missing.
âOur neighbors sent us a Facebook message with Aeida sitting in their bathtub,â Nicole said. âWe believe that was the first time she had done it.â

Apparently, Aeida has been going to the neighborâs house at night. At the neighborâs house, she had been taking a bath with her favorite kids. In fact, sheâd jump into the bath first before the children and stay with them until itâs done.
When her favorite kids are taking the bath with her, then sheâs okay with taking baths. And, in fact, itâs now become one of her favorite things to do.
âShe will join them at bath time, every chance she gets,â Nicole said.
Well, now, apparently, Aeida and Cashew have become a big and permanent part of each otherâs lives that they need to be involved in all aspects.
And that includes Aeida being part of the childrenâs bath time, too.
âIâm pretty sure our neighbors love having her over, just as we love having Cashew come over too,â Nicole shared with The Dodo.
Itâs a good thing Aeida and Cashewâs parents are used to them being in one house or another. Because it looks like the friendship between the two dogs will keep them all connected forever.
âAeida and Cashew are great friends, and have such a strong bond. Theyâre both considered great parts of our families.â
