When the workers of this pet store noticed that Vango was distressed around his “owners,” they did something about it.

Vango is still technically a puppy at five months of age. But he’s already been through a lot.

Josee Francoeur has been very protective of Vango, a baby Australian shepherd. She’s had him since he was just a few weeks old. In just a few months, Vango was able to become housebroken. So Francoeur would let Vango out into her fenced yard to go to the bathroom.

But one day, she let Vango into the yard, and he didn’t come back in. She looked outside and saw that the dog had completely disappeared.

“Is it possible that someone took him? And I was thinking ‘Who could do that? It’s impossible!'” – Josee Francoeur.

Sadly, some people had taken Vango. They snuck into the yard and put a leash around the dog for some unknown reason.

Distraught, Francoeur posted to social media that her dog had gone missing.

She was desperate to get him back and started searching her neighborhood for any sign of Vango. Sadly, she found none.

The couple who had stolen Vango thought that they’d gotten away with the scheme. But then they walked into their local pet store, Au Royaume des Animaux, and Vango realized that he had a chance of rescue.

Vango recognized the store employee (who is also a dog trainer,) Yves Jodoin. But Jodoin did not recognize the dog right away, as he has trained so many dogs. So Vango started barking and pawing at Jodoin, desperate to get his attention.

Jodoin started to think that something strange was going on. So he asked the couple some questions about the dog.

Neither of the couple could list any basic facts about Vango, such as his age, his food preferences and how much he had cost.

Jodoin’s colleague also grew suspicious. So she checked online to see if any dogs similar to the one in the store had been reported missing.

She saw Francoeur’s post about Vango, which was only a few hours old, and showed it to Jodoin.

Seeing the post and the dog’s name, Jodoin remembered that he had trained Vango. So Jodoin shouted “Vango, come!”

The dog got excited at hearing his name. He leaped free from the couple, and Jodoin held onto him tightly.

The couple claimed that Vango was their dog, until Jodoin showed them the missing dog post. The couple then changed their story, stating that they had found the dog in the woods that morning and had decided to keep him as a support animal.

Soon, the couple left, realizing that Jodoin didn’t believe their story.

Jodoin fed and comforted Vango. He also contacted Francoeur. She soon arrived at the pet store and thanked Jodoin for saving her baby.

“Imagine if those people didn’t go to that pet store. I would have lost my dog forever.” – Josee Francoeur.

After Vango was safely back at home, Francoeur filed a police complaint against the couple. The police are now investigating the incident.

Francoeur has realized why it’s so important to get Vango microchipped. She is determined to ensure that if Vango ever gets napped again, there are other measures to identify him.

Jodoin and his colleague are heroes. If it weren’t for them, who knows what would have happened to Vango?
