Man captures dog strutting his stuff down the street just like a human would

Seeing animals walk upright and with human mannerisms can be a bit of an unsettling experience. It happens more than you think, however. Brandon Ryan Rudowski recently found himself in such a situation.

The Canadian was in his car near his home when he saw a miniature poodle walking completely upright just like a human. The dog’s owner seemed entirely unfazed by how anthropomorphic their pet was acting.

“I have never seen this before!” Rudowski told The Dodo about the experience.

Meet Eli, the upright walking miniature poodle.

Brandon posted the video online and noted that he thought he was seeing things at first. One could perhaps think it was just a human in a dog costume trying to get attention but that was not the case. The Dodo spoke with a friend of the dog’s owner named Colleen Susko. She confirmed that the dog just walks like that when he gets excited.

“The dog’s name is Eli. He’s a miniature poodle. He’s always done that,” Susko told The Dodo.

It turns out Eli was just really excited to be on a walk! Colleen mentioned that Eli’s bipedal approach to walking does result in some strange looks from others. The dog’s owner apparently doesn’t mind, however.

“She doesn’t mind, so she never stopped him from doing it,” Susko said. “He does it often. [But] he does still walk on all four legs, too. He’s a sweetie!”

Other dogs do this too.

Eli the upright walking miniature poodle is not the only dog who has been caught walking in this manner. Unfortunately, some dogs must learn to walk on only their hind legs after suffering an injury. What is truly beautiful about these dogs is that they never let it get them down. They still go into every part of life with the same excitement that other dogs do and we find that pretty heart-warming and inspiring.

The town of Ouray, Colorado, has a famous resident named Dexter. The dog walks on his two hind legs after being hit by a car.

“Everyone in town knows him,” the dog’s owner Kentee Pasek said to 9 News. “In fact, they know him now more than they know us.”
