Dog gives sweetest apology and melts 5.8 million hearts in the process

Golden Retrievers are some of the friendliest creatures in all of nature.

They are loyal, loving, and loveable.

Evidently, they are also quite willing to admit when they’ve done something wrong or made a mistake, a skill many humans lack.

Many people believe Golden Retrievers are perfect family pets.

Golden Retrievers are also very obedient dogs.

They are easy to train and seem to be highly motivated by receiving approval from their human counterparts.

They love running around and playing outdoors which also makes them the perfect companion for nature lovers.

Additionally, Golden Retrievers made excellent personal support animals, service dogs, and they frequently work in law enforcement as well.

Golden Retrievers get along well with other animals too.

Golden Retrievers tend to get along well with other dogs, pets, and children. They can even be trained to be respectful of other animals’ property, although this is a bit of a difficult task for them.

In this story, one Golden Retriever was being taught not to take their siblings’ chew toys.

Teaching a dog not to have fun with a chew toy is a tough task but this Golden Retriever eventually realized that taking other dogs’ toys is not what a good boy does.

The video begins with a woman talking to her Golden Retriever from behind the camera.

“Hey Watson, do you understand when I’m talking to you?” the woman asks the dog in the video.

Suprisingly, Watson gives a little bark as if to indicate he does indeed understand when she is talking to him.

The woman then explained to Watson that she gave a chew toy to another dog and Watson ate it. The Golden Retriever seems to understand perfectly what this woman is referring to.

“So, I gave you a chewy, I gave Kiko a chewy, you ate Kiko’s chewy!”

Teaching dogs not to take other dogs’ chew toys.

This is an incredibly difficult thing to train a dog to do. To them, chew toys are the ultimate fun. You can bite at them, pounce on them, and they just make this squeeky little sound the whole time.

That’s a lot of fun if you are a Golden Retriever.

When a dog sees a chew toy, their instincts go into overdrive. All they can think about is pouncing on that toy and biting away at it. Training a dog not to give into these instincts is very difficult.

“So what do we do when we steal someone else’s chewy?”

The woman in the video had clearly established that the Golden Retriever had taken a chew toy that they weren’t supposed to. She then needed to determine what the appropriate next steps would be.

She asked Watson what we do when “we steal someone else’s chewy?” What happened next was downright adorable.

This is what we do when we steal someone else’s chewy.

Watson appeared to know immediately what the woman was talking about. He’d stolen someone else’s chewy and it was time to make that right.

He walked right over to the other dog and wrapped his front paws around them. It was a big hug to say that he is sorry!

Not suprisingly, video of this apology has gone viral. It has been viewed more than 5.8 million times.
