People say that love is blind. Well, the same goes for friendships.

Rookie the pooch is a perfect example. The little doggo became friends with a family cow. Yes, you read that correctly. Although dogs can get along with everyone, this cow has a special place in Rookie’s heart because she raised him.

Tears alert – you’ll probably cry when you see Rookie’s tears after being separated from his cow mom. But the two had a happy ending. Just wait and see.

The cow supported Rookie after he was abandoned by his mother

Rookie’s mom abandoned him but luckily the beloved cow was there to take care of him. The owners of the farm would frequently find the cow licking Rookie’s coat and keeping him warm.

For years, the friendship went on, and Rookie was always happiest spending time at the stable.

Unfortunately, the owner decided to sell the cow.

The farmer struggled with some costs. He had two cows and it was becoming overwhelming. One cow had to go. Sadly, the decision was made, and they sold Rookie’s best friend.

When the new owner came to pick up Rookie’s cow, he ran after her.

It was heartbreaking seeing him crying.

Believe it or not, it looks like Rookie was genuinely crying real tears because he was being separated from his best friend. The cow felt the same.

When they were taking her away, she struggled and wanted to stay. Sadly, that wasn’t possible.

One day, Rookie heard the familiar mooing.

That was when Rookie realized that his cow was not far. She was taken to another barn, not far from the farm where Rookie had stayed.

Rookie followed the sound and found his friend in another stable. The owner followed Rookie to his neighbor’s farm.

Something had to be done, and Rookie’s owner understood that he and the cow could not stay separated any longer.

Everyone probably thought that Rookie would get over the cow quickly.

However, he spent all of his days at the stable waiting for his mom to come back. Sometimes, Rookie would even sleep by the door while waiting for his mom to return. “It was heart-breaking,” the owner said.

No one ever thought that Rookie would be depressed for weeks following the separation. Eventually, Rookie’s sadness took hold of him and he didn’t want to leave the stable at all.

The owner repurchased the cow.

Because they knew that the reunion would be something special, the family took the camera out to film the moment of joy.

Once again, Rookie began to cry – but this time they were tears of joy.

A veterinarian warned the family that Rookie would have problems with socializing if he kept hanging out with the cow.

So, the family decided to get another dog too. They covered the dog with the mother cow’s scent. At first, Rookie paid no attention to the newest family member, but they slowly became friends.

Today, Rookie has a companion to run across the farm with him. A story like this can no doubtedly restore some faith in humanity. After all, friendships are born in a million different ways. Just like the old adage says: “A friend is the one who overlooks your broken fence and admires the flowers in your garden.”
