Sweet dog who refused to fight in the ring finally gets the love she’s been waiting for
Viktor Larkhill is an animal rescuer with a big heart who is known for never giving up an animal that he is helping. This was best shown in a video he shot with a special rescue dog named Betsy. One of the most amazing things about Betsy is that despite her injuries and pain, she never lashed out at the people trying to help her.
She has gone on to find the life she deserved, one filled with love and hugs.
Life in a dog-fighting ring
Betsy, a pit bull, was raised to be a fighter, but that was not in her nature. Gentle and loving, Betsy was instead used as a bait dog by her heartless former owner.
Eventually, though, she was rescued. At that time her injuries were so bad that the vets were unsure if she would even make it.
Betsy was touch-and-go for a while
The greatest fear of the vets as they treated Betsy was her severe wounds and the threat of infection. Regardless of her many wounds, she continued to hang on, showing a determination to live. Despite her abuse, she wanted to have a good life free of pain.
Requiring months of treatment and a total of eight surgeries, Betsy faced her injuries bravely. While she healed, she found a way to open her heart to the humans around her, many who cared for her deeply.
Larkhill was just one of the many people who helped her recover from her injuries and learn to love again. Amazed by her courage, her supporters were also touched by the grace with which she recovered.
Betsy gets adopted
Once she had recovered and was medically cleared, a loving family stepped up offering to adopt Betsy. They even had another dog for Betsy to play with in the big yard at their home.
Best of all, she has two human brothers who love her very much and give her the hugs that she has always wanted.
Betsy’s life is way different than it was before
Betsy loves to hang out with her brothers and her wagging tail shows how happy she is. Betsy serves as a perfect example of how, despite a painful and violent past, it is possible to still be a pet in a loving family.
Her family was willing to take a chance on her regardless of the stereotypes that pit bulls face.
Pit bulls fight stereotypes every day
Betsy is just one of the many pit bulls that fight against these stereotypes every day. She was able to overcome her violent past to become part of a wonderful family who loves her. Best of all, she now gets a ton of hugs!
