Adopted dog has serious trust issues, new owner builds him a luxurious tiny home to feel safe

Even though dogs have the power to comfort their owners, they still tend to be sensitive creatures themselves. All dogs have their own personalities — some are fun and playful while others are a bit timider and like to tuck themselves away. Some pups have more trust issues than others, but luckily it is usually manageable.

This one pup, in particular, had quite the trust issues. Rightfully so, since he was a rescue and came from an abusive past. But finally, he was found by an owner who truly gave him the love that he needed.

The pup’s name is Buster and he is a Staffordshire Bull Terrier who was rescued by Sean Farrell. At first, Farrell just agreed to be a foster for Buster while the people who rescued him continued to look for his new home. However, that didn’t last long. After spending some time with Buster, Farrell couldn’t help but take the sweet dog in as his own.

Just because Farrell effortlessly took him in though doesn’t mean it was all smooth sailing from there. There were some things that the two needed to work on. For instance, Buster was having a hard time being able to fully trust Farrell, given his deep, dark past.

It was so obvious to the point where Buster wouldn’t even like to be on the same floor as Farrell. If Farrell woke up and went downstairs, Buster would go upstairs. And he’d go downstairs when Farrell went up to bed. The only exception that would bring Buster closer to his new owner would be to eat or take walks.

The other weird thing was that Buster didn’t mind guests. If other people came over to visit, he would stand near them and Farrell. But when the guests left, so did Buster.

Farrell felt for Buster, and he knew it was time to do something — and also nothing. Over the next two years, Farrell would try to ease the tension through training while also giving Buster the space that he clearly needed. After all, you don’t get over a dark past overnight.

Through this, Buster eventually improved so much that he went on to become a therapy dog. He accompanies people who suffer from anxiety in attempt to soothe them. He also helps people with autism. And with all of Buster’s hard work comes reward, thanks to Farrell who realized he was more than deserving of it.

With no carpentry experience under his belt, Farrell went on to build a tiny house in his living room for Buster, so that Buster had a place to stay no matter where Farrell was. He could have something that felt like his and only his.

As predicted, it totally worked. Buster seemed to be thrilled and completely at ease in his special new home-within-a-home. Not to mention, the mini home also looks super professional with a fan, bed, window, special lighting and of course, many dog toys.
