Rescue dog won’t let go of new dad’s hand during first ride home together

“Dogs are man’s best friend.” This saying never gets old, but this doesn’t require humans and dogs to be together 24/7…usually.

Some dogs prefer not to be bothered while they are having their “me time.”

Stanley is definitely not this type of dog.

As a matter of fact, he was given a nickname by his human companion – Velcro Dog.

You already know what I mean, right?

This dog doesn’t look promising at first but there’s something that we don’t know about him yet.

Sam Clarence was working as a volunteer dog walker when he first met his future pup. Right at that moment, he already knew that Stanley was going to be a “foster fail.”

But his heart knew that his home would be a tailor-fit place to unleash the real potential of Stanley as a dog and as a pet. There was no need for him to think twice and he took the pup home right away.

The poor pup was a skittish stray dog and scared at first when he set foot in his new home.

Sam saw this and he knew right at that moment that the dog might have had something bad happen to him in his past.

Though Stanley was a bit shy, it didn’t hinder him from quickly taking his new dad.

It looks like shy Stanley is a clingy dog who loves resting his paw on his new dad – almost all the time!

“We have to be touching at all times. He’s very forceful about it,” explained Sam in an interview with The Dodo.

There wasn’t much of a challenge when it came to bonding the two.

Stanley is always on his new dad’s side and refuses to be far from him. Not only are they always near each other, but Stanley is also persistent in requiring them to be touching – almost all the time!

It’s probably one of the cutest things that you will see between a man and an animal. This touchy pup will even hold his dad’s hand! Just how cute is that?

Whenever Sam decides to go to bed, Stanley is just behind him also resting. He will readjust throughout the night so that both of them get to continue being comfortable while snuggling.

If Sam is watching TV, Stanley’s paw is also there resting on him. And guess what? Even if Sam is driving, Stanley is also there, paw present!

“If I’m driving we have to be in contact or he will force it upon me. If we are watching TV, same thing. I will get paws flying at me until I touch him. It’s just his quirk. If I’m not around he will do it to my housemate as well,” he continues.

It may be a bit difficult for Sam to focus his attention on the road while his buddy is asking to cuddle, but it’s a challenge that he would happily deal with every time.

Sweet Stanley may have grown older but his need to touch is still just the same.

Nowadays, Stanley is already an older pooch, but his age hasn’t affected his need to be always near his dad. Good thing that Sam doesn’t mind at all. He loves the snuggles and cuddles that Stanley has to offer. We doubt that it will ever change, not even in the years to come.

A dog like Stanley and his story is indeed worth sharing. Just imagine the joy that his paws bring.

His unparalleled clingy side is something that separates him from the others, and we love him for it!
