Big dog who spent 6 years in a cage went bonkers for her first cheeseburger

Most of the time, it is usual for us to see a dog in a cage more than we care to admit. Sometimes people do it as abuse and there are times that they do it out of misguided convenience as it’s deemed cheaper than getting a dog sitter.
What we fail to realize is that these dogs are living things with their own minds and instincts. You can only imagine what they feel if you place your feet on their paws. What would you feel if you’re caged for six years?
Angelica spent the same amount of time in a crate.
Staying in a cage is already hard in itself but imagine a big dog walking around in five or so steps to make a full circle in her cage. The clearance might be just enough for her to stand but not much else.
She was not alone in this ordeal. Right beside her was Spud. Spud is a smaller dog but that didn’t stop them from becoming friends through adversity.
Then, in a fortunate turn of events, the two of them were rescued.
It was difficult for Angelica at first because they realized she doesn’t have strength in her hind legs. The years spent in a cramped space meant that her hind muscles must’ve atrophied.
Angelica, despite the circumstances she was placed in, remained in a positive disposition. Staff members shared that they were blown away by her character.
They expected her to be timid or aggressive considering the lack of environmental exposure on her end. Angelica, however, knew that these people could be trusted, and thus, she gave them love and respect.
The two of them were fostered and were eventually adopted by two different families.
Her life in the outside world was just beginning and bit by bit, Angelica was experiencing the world first hand, or paw, or in this case, mouth.
To celebrate her new life, Angelica was taken to a local fast food joint. Her guardian took her to a drive-thru and ordered for Angelica the very first cheeseburger she’ll taste in her entire life.
Needless to say, Angelica went bonkers for the treat.
The burger isn’t even out of the bag and she was already drooling over the bag and sniffing it around. She knew a good treat was there and for the first time, she experienced what being spoiled felt like.
She was even instructed to slow down and chew but in a matter of seconds, a sliver of the bun and the patty was just left. After a few moments, the leftovers disappeared too.
But it wasn’t the only treat Angelica got.
They also took her to the park where she experienced the open world. For the first time, she felt the grass under her paw.
And to celebrate their friendship, the people who adopted Angelica and Spud decided to reunite them after three months.
At first, Spud approached Angelica casually. Then, when they realized who each other was, both of them exploded with energy. They ran, played, and tumbled – and we hope they’ll be this happy for the rest of their lives.
