Dogs lovingly comfort each other after owner dies in tragic hiking accident
Kris Busching, along with his beloved dogs and his friend Mark, got lost during a hike in Colorado, and then a terrible accident happened.
A video of two sad dogs being there for each other and comforting each other has gone viral. The post was uploaded last April 17 by Instagram user mrbonesandco.
Their story was heartbreaking, and you can clearly see it in their eyes.
Tonka and Little P used to be happy dogs.
They used to go hiking with their loving owner, Kris Busching. One day, though, Kris and his friend Mark planned a hike and, of course, the dogs were included.
Unfortunately, they got lost.
After 2 days, Kris and the dogs were determined to go down to a creek so they could get some fresh water, but then the unexpected happened.
According to the GoFundMe post:
“During the descent down the canyon to get to the water, with Kris holding onto TONKA and LITTLE P beside him, he lost his footing and stumbled trying to pull his dogs to safety. All three of them fell to the bottom of the canyon. Sadly, Kris died upon impact. His loyal and well-loved dogs sustained injuries but were alive.”
Mark couldn’t go down, so instead, he lit signal fires, hoping that someone would rescue them.
The next day, the rescue team arrived but it was too late. They found both Tonka and Little P guarding their owner. Kris had already passed away.
The dogs never left their beloved owner.
Mark wanted to go to Long Island, New York first. He wanted to make sure that he could, at the very least, give the dogs back to Kris’s family. To give them whatever measure of comfort he could give.
Mr. Bones & Co was kind enough to help and they asked if they could take the dogs to get checked since Kris’s family was busy grieving.
Both TONKA and LITTLE P sustained injuries but they were suffering more than just physical pain.
They had lost their beloved owner and nothing could be more painful than that.
The photo of the dogs taken at the rescue center showed how the two wanted to be together.
They wanted to comfort each other. Their eyes showed deep sadness.
Tonka had broken legs but Little P. showed no signs of any major injury. However, an update from the GoFundMe post last April 21, 2020 shared that Little P., in fact, had a badly broken jaw.
According to the update:
“TONKA UPDATE: This stoic senior boy still has plenty of hikes ahead of him now that his left foreleg has been repaired and plated and his right wrist stabilized for a hopefully nonsurgical recovery.”
Another post also said that Little P’s surgery for his broken jaw was complete and successful.
Mr. Bones & Co shared their happiness that the two dogs are doing better recovering together, and how they also appreciate how many people had donated for their treatment and rehabilitation.
Right now, Tonka and Little P are still recovering and are up for adoption.
Mr. Bones & Co want to make sure that the pair will be adopted together.
After all that they have been through, Tonka and Little P should always be together.
Kris Busching would want to see them go to a loving family together so they can have a home to call their own.
Make sure you stay updated with Tonka and Little P through Mr. Bones & Co.
