Chewbacca and CC are two dogs that look very different from each other, but they are still best friends.

You see, Chewy, as his name hints, is a large dog with a nice, fluffy fur, while CC, the smaller pup, is the definition of a short-haired dog.

The two of them used to live happily in their home with their human family, where they were loved and taken good care of.

Then, things rapidly changed.

However, at some point, a few years ago, a newborn arrived in the house, and that little guy sadly happened to be allergic to dogs.

Although the couple didn’t want to be separated from their furry friends, they just didn’t feel they had an option at that point.

So, they gave the duo up.

They surrendered them both, making sure they would be together in the shelter where they were taken.

Chewbacca and CC spent some time at the Animal Rescue League of Iowa.

They soon made names for themselves.

The pair was just inseparable.

They shared the same kennel, they played together, and they made sure to share lots of cuddles.

Of course, this made perfect sense. Being a dog taken to a shelter after a long time living in a proper home is a shock in its own right.

Thankfully, having a close friend around, makes loneliness go away, at least for those moments when your bestie wraps themselves around you or sleeps on you, just like CC did with his friend Chewy.

Workers at the shelter were so happy to see one dog trying to comfort the other with such selflessness and dedication.

She would see him through.

“Chewbacca and little CC are pretty much always cuddling when we walk by their kennel – and that usually means CC is somehow draped over Chewy,” they wrote in a Facebook post.

Besides the kennel cuddles, the duo just loved going on walks together or even car rides.

They were super curious to find out what was going on around them and they could usually be seen following someone around and being involved in what they were doing.

As you can probably imagine, the two dogs were just too cute to pass up.

So, once it was made public that they were up for adoption, people rushed to get them both.

“I had a Labradoodle so very familiar with the breed. Would love to adopt this beautiful pair,” someone commented to the post.

That was just one of the numerous offers to adopt the pair, and, eventually, the two best friends found a loving home that could provide them the love and care they need as pets.

And, what a surprise!

The two moved into a home that also hosts two more dogs and three pigs.

Sounds so cool, right? So much to do with their new friends.

People loved Chewy and CC’s story.

It is truly a reminder that it’s not only humans who can show compassion and can try to relieve their friends’ pain, but also animals.
