Dog finds homeless doppelgänger roaming street and won’t go home without him

If you live in an apartment, then you know how cramped it can be for two humans. Now, add two cats and a female Cairn terrier and the already cramped quarters begin to burst at the seams. But that didn’t stop Bethany Coleman and her boyfriend from adding another member to their family.

An expanding family

It all started in 2016 when Coleman visited the local farmer’s market, with the couple’s dog, Rogue. At first, everything was fine until they came across workers from a local shelter, Animal Hope K9 Rescue, who had brought some dogs out in the hope of getting them adopted.

Coleman was surprised to see that one of the puppies looked just like Rogue. Rogue noticed as well and immediately gravitated to him. As Coleman stood there, she could see Rogue looking up at her with pleading eyes.

“Pleeeeeease? Can we, Mom? Huh, can we?” the look in Rogue’s eyes seemed to say.

Of course, Coleman couldn’t resist, and soon the duo was on their way home to tell Coleman’s boyfriend the news that the family had expanded. After about a month, everybody finally got comfortable with the new arrangement.

Best friends from the start

From the moment that they met, Rogue and her new companion Beast did everything together. They run and play, and are hardly away from each other’s side. They even walk each other upon occasion to Coleman’s delight.

Beast’s arrival had the additional effect of helping Rogue to calm down and she is no longer the pampered only-pup that she was before.

Fortunately, the younger Beast, now bigger than Rogue, has also helped Rogue keep her energy level up. And of course, they both love to snuggle with their mom and dad.

A big move to Hawaii

The family also had an upgrade in accommodations, moving to Hawaii, over 5,000 miles and an ocean away. If their big move has taught Coleman anything it is that their family will always be together.

“(We) will always appreciate each day for the unconditional love they give us and we can’t wait for the next adventure,” Coleman told The Dodo.

One big, happy family

When they first arrived in Hawaii, the family’s animals had to go into quarantine. Coleman feared that her pest would forget all about her. Her fears were put to rest when after reuniting with her dogs and cats, it was like no time had passed at all.

“I jokingly say we’re starting our [own] little Noah’s ark,” Coleman added. “Two humans, two cats, and two dogs.”
