Grieving dogs lurk 18 months by deceased owner’s home when thrown out by family
It’s absolutely tragic and heartbreaking when loved ones pass, and that’s definitely the case for the trio of Ricky, Ethel, and Fred too.
These three siblings always made a ton of fun with their loving owner, who sadly passed away.
Without knowing or being able to realize what happened, these three dogs were suddenly left all by themselves with no one else to help out.
In fact, when the deceased man’s family came to clear the house, they simply grabbed the three dogs and dumped them on the streets.
All 3 of them were carelessly kicked out to the streets.
They didn’t care about the pooches at all and didn’t even make efforts to at least find them a temporary home or bring them to a shelter.
Ricky, Ethel, and Fred became homeless and had to survive on their own.
Of course, that’s an incredibly hard life, especially if you’ve always been properly taken care of.
“After their owner passed away, his family cleared the house, threw the dogs out to the street, and that was the end of that chapter,” the Hope For Paws animal organization wrote on their Facebook page.
Luckily, the new homeowners then noticed that these three dogs were suddenly roaming around the house a lot, and made sure to keep them well-fed.
“The current family who moved into the house was very kind to feed them during all this time (when we arrived we found a large bowl of pasta with meat balls out for the dogs). Compton is a rough neighborhood where people are struggling to survive and I appreciate any act of kindness towards these dogs who were at least well-fed,” they continued.
For over a year and a half, these three dogs always came back to the house, wondering what happened to their owner and why they couldn’t go inside anymore.
Finally, someone gave the Hope For Paws animal organization a call about this trio, and it didn’t take long before a crew of volunteers and rescue workers tried to find them.
When they did get to meet Fred, Ricky, and Ethel, they knew that they had to take them, since they were in a completely confused state and didn’t know what was going on.
Mentally, they were absolutely miserable.
The dogs have also seemed to become weary and anxious about humans, and clearly made efforts to run away from the rescuers if they could.
Luckily, the rescuers weren’t planning on giving up.
They patiently spent time with them to gain their trust before they were collected, but had to take it up a notch once traffic started getting busier.
“We rushed the dogs to the car because I was concerned they would chew through our gentle snares and run into traffic.”
When they finally arrived at the shelter, it seemed as if a burden felt off their shoulders.
Not needing to be careful on the dangerous streets, finally having people around again that were willing to give them attention and provide them with care and food, was a huge change for all of them.
It was definitely an emotional moment for the three dogs, who were just overwhelmed by all of it.
