Dog owners are making beautiful paintings with the help of their furry friends
Dogs have so many talents. Some of them can be trained to detect bombs or sniff out criminals, others can guide the blind, while some can even be trained to detect when people with certain health conditions are about to have a seizure or attack.
Even typical family dogs have plenty of skills and abilities, from sitting and rolling over on command to fetching balls and sticks.
And you might be surprised to learn that your pet pup could even be capable of producing amazing art as well!
A recent trend has emerged on social media, with dog owners using the paws of their furry friends to paint beautiful flowery pictures, and some of the results are very impressive.
It seems pretty crazy to think that a dog painted those beautiful blue flowers, right? Well, the human had to help out a little to fill in some of the detail, but the petals themselves were made by the paw prints of the pup!
The whole process is actually pretty simple: you dip your dog’s paws in the paint, place them down on the paper or canvas, and then lift them away, before filling in the rest of the picture yourself.
It turns out that doggy paws are just the right shape for making beautiful flowers, and you can play around with various colors and paw sizes to get totally different effects each time.
The image above, for example, shows the combined efforts of a couple of different dogs. We can see that some of the flowers are very small, while others are much larger, and the owner has used a range of colors to produce this beautiful bouquet!
Once the paw prints are on the paper, you can then get to work and add stalks, stems, leaves, and other elements, as you like.
The only limit is your imagination, and you can choose to keep things simple with classic green stems and grass or go totally abstract with it.
In the lovely picture above, for example, the doggy owner decided to add golden outlines to the various paw prints in order to really highlight those distinctive petal shapes and then added some leaves of different shapes and styles too.
It’s a simple but super fun way to spend some time with your pup and do something creative, side-by-side, simply perfect for those days when you’re all cooped up indoors with nothing to do.
However, before you get started, there are a few things to bear in mind!
Obviously, dipping your dog’s feet in paint can present a few risks! For starters, you need to be sure that the paint you choose is water-based and non-toxic, for the health and safety of your furry friend.
You should also be sure to have some water nearby to wash the paint away when you’re done or be ready to lift the dog up and carry them to the bath.
It also helps to only try this when your pup is nice and calm, as a hyper or playful dog might simply decide to run off, leaving multicolored paw prints all over your home!
So, if you do decide to give this a try, be sure to take the proper precautions. Keep your dog calm and maybe get someone else to help out, just to be on the safe side.
