Dogs can actually sense a bad person when they see one, new study reports
Dogs are profound beings. They can sense the energy that humans aren’t able to. New studies show that dogs can even sense whether or not you’re a reliable person. Ever heard a dog bark at a new person and thought, “Hmm what’s this person up to?” Turns out, that might be a good idea.
Science confirms dogs can sniff out the bad guys.
New studies show that your pooch may be spot on when it comes to uncovering ill-willed people.
Like natural-born-detectives, dogs can recognize a bad person from the jump. A team led by Dr. Akiko Takaoka, at Japans, Kyoto University, conducted a study published in the Animal Cognition Journal.
One of the studies was to find out if a dog would trust a person who had lied to it, In the study, the owner would trick their dog and the team would record the dogs’ reactions.
After the owners tricked their dogs, the dogs would stop listening to their commands, suggesting that they can tell when someone is lying.
According to Dr. Akiko Takaoka and her team, this proves that dogs can sense an untrustworthy person when they come across them. They plan on doing the study on wolves next since they’re the closest relatives to dogs.
Another test showed that dogs can sense when someone is mistreating their owners.
Another study, published in Neuroscience & Behavioral Reviews, states that dogs can read the communication between strangers and their owners.
In the experiment at Kyoto University, they had dog owners ask two groups of strangers for help. One group would agree, while the other group rudely declined. Afterward, they had the strangers attempt to give the dogs a treat. To the scientists’ surprise, the dogs wouldn’t take the treat from the angry strangers.
A different test showed that dogs can read our body language and emotions.
At the Messerli Research Institute in Vienna, Italy, researchers tested dogs on judging facial expressions. By the end of the study, dogs were able to read people’s expressions – even those they had never met!
Dogs can also sense fear, according to a Liverpool University research team.
They tested almost 700 people in the experiment and learned that emotionally stable and confident people didn’t get bitten often. But scared and emotionally unstable people were bitten much more.
Pooches can smell cancerous cells.
Many cancer patients have reported that their dogs paid more attention to body parts affected by cancer. Science now backs that up.
In a test conducted at the University of California Davis, dogs were able to smell cancer in urine samples of cancer patients. They can sense many other diseases as well. In fact, dogs even know when people are going to have epileptic seizures or go into diabetic shock!
Wow, I knew dogs were incredible, but this is eye-opening!
Science proves to us what we already know, dogs are far more intelligent animals then many people think.
