Dolphins bring gifts to volunteers after the tourists stop showing up
We have all been inundated with news involving the coronavirus. Thankfully, not all the news surrounding it is bad news! There are some wonderful things happening in nature in response to the changes in human behavior across the world.
In many places, carbon emissions drastically dropped and air pollution decreased.
In certain places, the air quality improved so much that people saw mountain ranges that hadn’t been seen for generations! The little things that humans do like driving cars slowly add to create larger problems. With people staying home, nature is acting a bit different!
Animals across the world are acting “strange”.
Deer in Japan are roaming the streets after people stopped visiting to feed them! In Australia, dolphins are seemingly bringing certain humans gifts!
In Tin Can Bay, Australia, dolphins are bringing gifts to the shore.
At Barnacles Cafe and Dolphin feeding, people can have lunch and then wade out into the water to feed dolphins that are present right in the bay. These dolphins have gotten used to human activity and routinely come up for a free snack!
As people stopped going out to eat, the cafe closed.
Once the cafe closed, the dolphins noticed! The once regularly fed dolphins were wondering where all the humans who gave them food went! The smart creatures then started bringing sea objects to shore as little gifts. For all intents and purposes, it looks like the dolphins are trying to bribe humans into coming back! They miss their friends!
One dolphin named Mystique has an interesting story.
Mystique is all scraped up because he fights with the other males. He also is missing a bit of his tail and dorsal fin from a shark attack in 2007! Mystique sounds like a bit of a BA!
Mystique appears to have a soft side.
Each day, Mystique finds interesting things and brings them back in exchange for some fish! He seems to have worked out some type of deal!
As McPherson said, “What we have to do is give him a fish in return. We haven’t trained him, but he has trained us to do this.”
He has learned how to get the snacks he wants so badly!
Just like a puppy, Mystique seems to have learned how to get treats from humans! Every day he goes out and brings back items ranging from coral lumps to bottles.
None of the other dolphins do this to the extent that Mystique does.
Mystique has a friend who will sometimes help him but he is always the only one who brings it back! It seems he has cornered the dolphin market of sea junk. On certain days, he will bring ten items in a line for his fish!
He has learned that he can’t drop it too far out.
A few times he had dropped the item to early. When he realized the humans couldn’t go out to get the items, he goes and uses his nose to get the item again! He seems to be a collector!
“We swear he has a collection waiting to bring to us.”
