5 “dump-and-go” slow cooker family recipes that are budget-friendly and incredibly tasty

Let’s face it, right now we all could do with less stress in our lives. Luckily, these slow cooker meals will make cooking cheap, hassle-free and delicious.

They say that when life gives you lemons, make lemonade. Sadly, that phrase doesn’t offer any advice on how to make lemonade while you’ve got a house full of screaming kids and a deadly virus outside.

Of course, there’s one thing in most kitchens that can really take some stress out people’s lives: the slow cooker. And here are five easy, inexpensive slow cooker dishes that you can make with almost no effort:

1. Ranch Tender Roast

To make this dish, pour some olive oil into your slow cooker.

Then add a large tender chuck roast to the pot. On top of that, add a stick of butter. On top of these, sprinkle a packet of ranch powder and a packet of onion soup mix.

After that, cut up a poblano pepper into quarters and add them into the pot for flavor.

Then add a quarter cup of water to the pot. Cover the cooker and cook the ingredients on high for four to six hours.

Once it’s cooked, shred the meat with some forks.

Then just put the meat into a bun and enjoy.

2. Meatball subs

Empty a packet of frozen meatballs into the cooker.

Then pour in two 24-ounce cans of pasta sauce.

Stir the sauce until the meatballs are coated.

Cover and cook on low for 8 to 10 hours.

Then grate some cheese, put the meatballs in a sub roll and enjoy.

3. Sausage and potatoes

Dice three medium-sized russet potatoes.

Pour oil into the slow cooker and add the potatoes.

Cut up 14 ounces of sausage. Place the sausage on top of the potato.

Add a 16-ounce pack of frozen green beans on top of the sausage.

Add a quarter cup of water and cover.

Cover and cook on high for four to six hours. Then serve it up and enjoy.

4. Crack chicken sliders

Pour oil into the slow cooker. Add two boneless chicken breasts.

Add a packet of cream cheese and a packet of ranch sauce powder.

Pour on a few tablespoons of water.

Cover and cook on high for four to six hours.

Tear up the chicken with two forks.

Add the chicken to some buns and enjoy!

5. Salsa chicken

Pour some oil into the slow cooker. Add two boneless chicken breasts.

Pour in a 12-ounce packet of steamed sweetcorn.

Add a jar of salsa.

Add a 15 ounce can of black beans.

Cover the cooker and cook on high for four to six hours.

Then shred up the chicken with two forks. Mix the chicken and other ingredients so that the salsa is evenly distributed.

Add in a packet of taco seasoning. Stir the seasoning into the food. Lastly, serve the chicken as tacos, or on its own.

All of these meals taste so much better than any microwave meal, yet they use incredibly affordable ingredients.

And when the most labor-intensive parts of the meals are chopping up a few vegetables/tearing up some cooked meat, you know they’re easy to make!
