Chinchilla takes dust bath in fascinating ultra high-resolution video
Everyone loves watching a chinchilla taking a dust bath. It’s an endearing and adorable sight that can bring joy to your day. The best part is, this video was filmed in 4K ultra high definition!
Chinchillas are rodents. They are native to the Andes mountains of South America, where they live in colonies, and are among the largest members of the chinchillidae family.
Their fur is exceptional.
Chinchillas have soft, silky fur that is brownish-gray or black on top, with a lighter underside (called a āsalt-and-pepperā coat). Chinchilla fur is highly prized as it is said to be warmer than wool and softer than silk.
In addition to their luxurious fur coats, chinchillas also have short ears with large ear flaps for keeping out cold temperatures; long legs that allow them to jump up to 4 feet high; and long tails used for balance when running across rocky terrain or tree branches.
And they enjoy dust baths!
Dust baths are a natural part of the chinchilla’s environment, which is why they love to take dust baths.
Dust baths help chinchillas clean their fur, remove oils from their skin, and keep them warm during winter months when temperatures can drop below freezing.
It is the best way to clean their furs.
They’re also great for helping chinchillas groom themselves because they have very clean fur compared to other pets.
Chinchilla’s fur is much cleaner than most petsāit doesn’t get greasy or dirty as dog or cat fur does!
But why dust baths?
If you let your pet bathe in water then, it will trigger the development of molds which isn’t good for their health so dry baths are always better when caring for a chinchilla.
A particular video showcases a chinchilla on a dust bath session. It was clear that the tiny animal is enjoying it.
The rodent knew exactly what to do.
The moment it was put in the bowl filled with dust, it started doing its thing. It keeps on turning to have its fur coated with dust.
You may have seen videos of chinchillas taking a bath, but in the 4K definition, it’s just mesmerizing to watch.
The little turns they do are fun to see.
The particular rodent in the video is a Violet Chinchilla named Taro and people adored watching her take her much-awaited dust bath.
“I swear that was how dry shampoo was invented from or imitated by,” one commenter pointed out. “I wonder how this little guy is not coughing the whole time – the dust doesn’t seem to bother his little nose and respiratory system at all. What a miracle. Very cute!”
Another one wrote, “Highly recommend watching on highest quality at 0.75x playback speed. Partly because of the epic slow motion and partly because it makes the cuteness last longer.”
Indeed, the video is so relaxing to watch. If you want to take a break from a day full of work, I highly recommend watching this awesome video.
