Clorox wipes cleared from the shelves? Here's how to make your own
If you have been to your local store anytime in the past few weeks, you will have noticed that there are some pretty big spaces showing up on a few aisles! While most stores are keeping up with the essentials, there are a few things that are flying off the shelves faster than…well I don’t know, but quickly.
In the wake of COVID-19, people are either stocking up on cleaning supplies or scalping the prices for others.
Price gougers are horrible for doing the things they have been doing. From people buying out thousands of thermometers from Costco only to sell them at 500% cost to people upselling baby formula, it’s pretty sick to see what people will do to make a profit. One of the most excellent tools it being able to make your supplies at home!
Cleaning supplies are in low supply, but they are essential per the most recent recommendations.
The CDC is currently recommending that people regularly disinfect surfaces as there is the possibility that the virus can survive on them for some time. Now, it is recommended that non-porous surfaces are cleaned and then disinfected with certain chemicals. The CDC is keeping a list of the recommended cleaners to use to disinfect surfaces. On this list are Clorox products! The only hard thing is that they are challenging to find in the store!
You can make your own Clorox wipes at home!
Nothing is holding you back from being able to stay safe and disinfect the surfaces that need cleaning in your home! This recipe comes from a YouTube channel named”Mama in the Kitchen,” who started her channel in January of 2019 to post cooking videos she learned from her mom! It turns out she had some other tips to share with the world.
What works and what doesn’t.
With a lot of home recipes out there, there is always a concern for safety. In making these wipes, there are a few things you should use and some that you definitely shouldn’t.
Cleaners that work:
Pine-sol, Mr. Clean, Lysol, and Clorox all work for this home hack. The key is to make sure that the product is a high-level disinfectant. An easy way to check is to look at the packaging and the list mentioned earlier.
Cleaners that DON’T work:
Contrary to what some believe, essential oils are not a cleaning grade disinfectant. They can be used to make the product smell better but not as the base. You also shouldn’t use lemon juice, kinds of vinegar, or vodka as the base.
