It’s always heartwarming when babies laugh uncontrollably. But it’s even cuter when the laughing baby is an elephant.

One of the best moments of parenthood is when your baby laughs for the first time.

It might happen when you’re playing with toys, making silly faces or anything else. But the cause is not what’s important. Hearing and seeing the joy of your baby is!

But the visitors and workers of this nature reserve got the pleasant surprise of their lives when one of the baby elephants started laughing with sheer joy, just like a human baby.

The elephant in question was beloved amongst the staff members of Maevang Elephant Camp in Chiang Mai, Thailand. The workers loved playing with her.

One day, the baby ran up to one of her favorite staff members as he was moving away a plastic bucket.

The worker could tell that the animal was being playful, so he kept on swiping the bucket away from the elephant’s trunk as she tried to pick it up.

When the worker was doing this, the baby elephant started giggling with contentment.

It was so amazing that one of the visitors to the camp, Laura, decided to start filming.

The elephant approached the human again, and the man kept on running backwards, keeping the bucket out of the elephant’s reach.

Then the elephant ran away from the worker. The worker called for the elephant to come get the bucket, and the baby ran over again.

This time her trunk grabbed the bucket, but the man still managed to pull it away.

Throughout this activity, the elephant was laughing and laughing.

Even when the video cut out, the animal was chortling.

Luckily, Laura uploaded the video to YouTube for the whole world to enjoy.

This video is especially amazing, because it is the only one of its kind on the Internet. There are no other elephant laughter videos out there.

Is it a fake? It sure seems real, but no one can be sure.

One thing that is for sure is the fact that elephants experience emotions in much the same way that humans do.

Like humans, elephants form close family bonds. They’ve also been seen to express sadness, happiness, anger and many other emotions that few other animals do.

Perhaps the most easily observable emotion that can be seen in elephants is grief. Elephants can live for up to 70 years. And when elephant herds experience a death, all of the others mourn for their departed family member. In fact, elephants have been known to visit the site of their family members’ deaths for many, many years. And when they get to that place, they sometimes remain there for days to mourn their lost relatives.

All this information about elephants just proves something that most of us are already aware of: elephants are amazing!

Of course, not all humans are as kind to elephants as the workers of Maevang Elephant Camp. But it’s hard to imagine anyone wanting to hurt them after watching this video.
