Elvis sings tear-inducing version of Willie Nelson hit

Although we know that the song “Always On My Mind” wasn’t written by or for Elvis Presley, this song is still significant to the “King of Rock and Roll” in more ways than one.

One of the probable reasons is because when he recorded his version of the song in 1972, he was one of the biggest (if not the biggest) and sought after recording artist of the era.

With that being said, it’s safe to say that whatever song he covered would be forever associated with the name Elvis Presley.

Another reason and could be that he recorded the song just weeks after his timely and heartbreaking separation with his wife, Priscilla.

Elvis’ rendition of this song will surely punch a hole in anyone’s heart.

Not only could he relate to the song, he was living it- and in this emotional video, he laid his soul bare.

The video begins with a brief narration introducing Elvis and his situation with Priscilla:

“Perhaps the most difficult thing for Elvis to accept was the end of his marriage. Just five years before, Elvis and Priscilla’s wedding in Las Vegas had made headlines and now the couple was meeting at a courthouse to finalize their divorce…. A loss that would sadden Elvis for the rest of his life. “

The video then transitions to Elvis singing the song with immense emotion.

For any song listener, it’s always pleasing to the ears and eyes whenever they hear an artist singing from heart- but this might be the exception.

Though knowing that Elvis could relate to the song because of his recent divorce, no one wanted him to relate to the song that way.

Whoever comes across the video will feel the pain in his voice and see it in his face. He is obviously singing from the heart and he’s relating the song to his own heartbreak.

He’s no longer the jolly and groovy, “pretty boy” Elvis that we’ve known.

It’s sad to see him singing from his heart and his own pain this way, but it’s also beautiful.

Although we all know Elvis had a knack for singing from the heart- when it’s a love song it’s downright inspiring! But when it’s him singing about his own pain and life tragedy, it really does pluck and pull at our heartstrings.

It’s a rollercoaster of emotions.

The video gives more of a glimpse at their past relationship. It shows their happy moments together as husband and wife, as well as sweet moments with their kids.

All the short clips are flashing in the video while Elvis is singing the very emotional song.

We can’t imagine how he’s able to pull through that sad song. It must’ve been extraordinarily hard.

His fans were probably glad that Elvis was back to being single, though it could also be a piece of bitter-sweet news to them.

Seeing Elvis totally heartbroken and down on his knees is like watching your favorite hero crumble before your very eyes.

Only those who genuinely love him could empathize enough with what he’s going through during that time. This song that’s so significant to the tragic end of his marriage with Priscilla will forever play in our hearts and minds.

He’s one of a kind and we all thank him for his music.

Elvis Presley certainly left a mark in the world of music. A mark that will never vanish, not even in a million years. He left a hole in our hearts, a hole that cannot be filled by just anyone.

His name and music will certainly be passed onto the next generations- they already have. His music will always be played every now and then. He will be compared but will never meet his match. His legacy will live, now and forever!
