High-spirited 93-year-old woman opts to spend her whole retirement aboard a cruise ship

When we were kids, we couldn’t help but wish and look forward to growing up.

Now that we’re all grown-ups, we can’t help but look forward to our retirement.

Speaking of retirement, do you already have a plan?

Most people wish to own a mobile home and be off the grid, while others would love to settle down with their kids and take care of their grandchildren.

Some people look forward to having a small cabin where they can plant vegetables and fruits. They would spend their days creating more memories with their life partner.

Sounds beautiful, right?

Of course, our retirement plan would also depend on our life savings. When you have an ample amount of retirement funds, wouldn’t you want to live a life of luxury?

Take inspiration from Leona Wachtstetter or simply known as Mama Lee. She was born in May 1928 and worked as a registered nurse.

One day, she met Mason Wachtstetter on a beach in Hollywood, and they fell in love.

They had four beautiful children, and they loved spending time together. It was Mason who introduced Mama Lee to cruising.

Unfortunately, Mason died of cancer.

Before passing, Mason had one request. He asked Mama Lee to never stop cruising, and she promised.

It’s so hard to realize that you’ve planned a whole retirement life with your spouse, then you end up living alone.

Adjusting was hard at first.

Then, she started cruising again, however; she realized it was really tiring to pack her things, go on the cruise ship, then off.

So, after realizing that her life was in her hands, so she decided to live on a cruise ship instead.

It was a grand plan!

To do that, Mama Lee sold her five-bedroom Fort Lauderdale-area house on a 10-acre land, and along with her late husband’s inheritance, she became a permanent resident of Crystal Serenity.

Mama Lee would spend US$170k a year as a permanent luxury resident of the ship, and according to her, she’s living a fairytale life.

When asked how many countries she has visited, Mama Lee said she didn’t count anymore.

When there is a port in the country of destination, sometimes, she goes down to shop, and that’s it.

She has almost seen everything, so whenever the passengers would stroll, she has the entire ship to herself.

Aside from that, she loves how everything she needs is being taken care of.

No more chores for Mama Lee! How exceptional is that?

The ship’s crews and captain all love her. After all, she has been living with them for more than a decade.

The captain and the crew say that Mama Lee loves dancing.

She dances every day, which might be one reason why she’s so young looking and happy.

According to Mama Lee, she’s so spoiled inside the ship that she never had a sick day. The crew would ensure that she has all her needs and wants if we might add.

Some people asked Mama Lee about her remaining family and she said that her daughter and most of her closest friends had already passed. Her grandchildren already have their own families, so why not live her life to the fullest?
