Dancers in "country" wear tip their hats then break out in a tap dance no one saw coming
When we think of country music and country dancing, we think of cowboy hats, line dancing, and really catchy music.
But there are some dance groups who take it to the next level.
They’ve used their dance specialty and created a fun choreography using country music. And whether they intend to or not, they end inspiring their audience to enjoy country music through their dance.
One of those groups is Caramelka.
Caramelka is a group of nine male and female dancers from Prague who perform in different European country festivals. They have danced all kinds of country dance, from traditional classical country to the modern county dance styles, clogging (American country step), cancan and Irish step.
As long as it’s country dance, they’re dancing it.
At the festival at Coudray-Montceau in Essonne, Northern France, they performed a tap dance to two country songs, “Country Road” and “Tell Me Ma.”
The dancers all wore cowboy hats while the female dancers wore short corseted dresses and the male dancers wore cowboy shirts with black pants.
We love how the festival set up the dance floor.
It was a long dance floor with the audience seated on all four sides of the stage. The video started with their tap dance performance of “Country Road.”
It’s so interesting to watch this fusion of country dance and tap dance.
When their feet tap and slide on the dance floor and they move smoothly with each other, it makes you want to dance along with them. Or learn to tap dance so you can dance along with them.
Look at them dance, they make it look so easy!
And why wouldn’t they?
They’ve been trained to dance by award-winning choreographers with decades of experience. They’re the same ones who choreographed their entire sequence, too.
“Performed live on stage, the show combines traditional and modern country dances with dancing virtuosity, sophisticated footwork, and the fascinating rhythm of clogging (American tap dance). This creates an impeccable country dancing show which has never been in Europe before!” they wrote on their website.
The dancers may have been too young to experience the heyday of country dance and clogging but they’re still having fun dancing it.
“The energy and enthusiasm of the young dancers will blow you away the first minute you see them. The program is full of distinctive individual dancing, first-rate performances and a high level of professionalism and charisma,” the website described Caramelka’s performance.
And everybody loves them because of it.
They’ve been invited to dance at corporate events, to collaborate with other musicians, and create special shows. This is in addition to their own Caramelka shows, which are already booked from January 2020 to August 2020 in the Czech Republic, Germany, Poland, and Italy.
And they have devoted fans all over Europe.
“What a great performance and they dance so beautifully!” Conny Balderrama Marquez gushed.
“Thank you for sharing this wonderful performance!” Georges 34 said.
“It’s so great to watch. Congratulations to all the dancers. Thank you for sharing,” s.t. added.
And when you visit their website, you’ll be able to see and appreciate what makes their fans watch their shows over and over again.
