Euthanized puppy wakes up in crowded shelter and gets a second chance

Sometimes, miracles actually happen – and this four-footer can definitely relate. Unfortunately, this puppy wasn’t very lucky in his life, and he spent some time at a very crowded shelter.

It wasn’t a no-kill shelter either, and since they required room for other pets, this four-footer was scheduled to be euthanized.

Thankfully, a miracle foiled their plans.

Sadly, not every pup at the shelter finds a loving forever home with an adoptive family, and sometimes that results in a drastic fate: putting them to sleep.

This adorable Labrador-Pit mix listens to the name Rudolph.

He is only eight months old, and he called a shelter in Oklahoma his home for the majority of his life. However, after spending months at the shelter, the harsh decision was made to free up resources for other pets.

Rudolph didn’t get adopted, so doctors scheduled to euthanize him. There was simply no room anymore, and the resources were very limited.

Rudolph had been doing fine otherwise and didn’t suffer from any severe medical conditions. It was just tragic that this young pup, with his whole life still ahead of him, had to be put on death-row.

Rudolph was injected with the sedative by the veterinarian.

The vet then left the room in order to let the four-footer pass away in peace. Sometime later, the doctor returned to the room expecting to find a lifeless animal, but Rudolph was still very much alive and kicking.

It seemed like he was completely immune to the effects of the euthanizing drugs and he felt perfectly fine.

Rudolph’s survival was a miracle.

The shelter staff simply didn’t have it in their hearts to try again.

The word got out about his miraculous survival, and another animal shelter actually got in touch with them. Soon after, King’s Harvest Pet Rescue No-Kill Shelter signed the paperwork to transfer Rudolph to them.

There, he will never have to fear for his life.

Crew member Kylie Jo Mitchell said that she’d never heard about a dog surviving a lethal injection, and called Rudolph nothing short of a ‘miracle dog’.

Rudolph just received a second chance at life.

It didn’t take long before his remarkable story blew up on social media and in the local news.

King’s Harvest rescue shelter found themselves overwhelmed by positive responses and families wanting to take Rudolph in, as his story was shared and seen by thousands of people around the world.

Jacob Hommer was interested in adopting Rudolph along with a veteran buddy of his.

Jacob thinks that with the correct training, Rudolph could be a brilliant service dog. Even though there were talks for adoption, the shelter ultimately decided in someone else’s favor as there were numerous applications.

An anonymous young man picked him up just a few days later.

Of course, the shelter had to disappoint plenty of people too, but they were absolutely confident that Rudolph would feel right at home with his new owner.

He deserves no less.
