Mom captures ex and fiancé walking with her newborn – and it’s pretty much co-parenting goals
These days families are more complicated than ever. Relationships have strayed away from many traditions. When it comes to children, there is no doubt that having a healthy supportive household, that generally involves both parents is the best. So when a longterm relationship that involves kids, breaks down, it becomes a very stressful situation.
Will you be able to put the pain of a past relationship to rest for the sake of your child?
No one wants a child to be caught between two parents fighting and sharing the resentment they carry between each other. This is exactly what Madison Holly was afraid of. Ex-partner Tyler Mcilveen had a child with Madison named Cade. Luckily for all of them, and despite some initial struggles, they are making it work as co-parents.
Holley explains that at the beginning of their break-up, “”We were in different places and I’m very headstrong, so it was hard for us to agree on things.”
Things became even more difficult for the two when Madison had moved on with her new boyfriend, Cody Pietz. At the beginning of that relationship, Madison and Tyler weren’t even on speaking terms. Things were bad. Cody would have to message Tyler if Madison needed to communicate.
It wasn’t until Tyler also moved on in finding a new girlfriend that things between them got better. Tyler’s new girlfriend Karin Grey, was a huge part in settling the tension between the two. Sometimes it takes a third person to allow two people to see eye-to-eye. Madison has no problem giving credit to Karin, as she was that person for them.
“Meeting Karin was when we both became happy again. I think meeting new people who put our child first and respected that we had Cade together no matter what and us both being happy again helped,” Holley says.
Karin wanted to get all four people that are now involved in Cade’s life, together and settle their issues. They all agreed that giving Cade a healthy environment to grow up in was the most important. They laid out all their feeling about each other and it allowed them to all begin healing and move toward being a family.
You never know shape a family will come in, but love will be what ties it together.
The four adults began to build their relationships. Madison and Karin became quite close. They all got together to celebrate holidays and special occasions. Since those times were mostly about Cade it was very important that he could have all his family present.
When the time came that Madison and Cody were going to have a child of there own, it meant Cade was gonna have a brother. It was something that everyone could celebrate together.
Waylon Pietz was born on August 2nd, 2019. Madison took a picture of the new family walking out of the hospital. It was a moment to remember. The picture was of Tyler, Cade, Cody, and newborn Waylon leaving the hospital. The two dads walked their sons out of the hospital, all holding hands.
That moment was captured and the photo went viral soon after.
“This photo was taken 24 hours after I gave birth to my second baby boy, Waylon. The guy on the left is my ex, the 3-year-old holding his hand is my first child, Cade, we had together. The guy on the right holding my sons’ Right hand is my fiancé, and the newborn baby Boy is our child. Just because a relationship doesn’t work out between two people DOES NOT mean the relationship with the child shouldn’t.”
It was a tough road to get to the point they were all at. And an even longer one ahead. But they know that each person individually makes their family special. When the time comes that Tyler and Karin decide to have a child, everyone will support each other and the family will grow together.
Madison left her final thought:
“I hope that by this photo going viral it can inspire people to put their past aside as long as both parents truly want what’s best for the child … Children sense stress and we are their role models and safe place, so the easier things are with everyone, the better for everyone.”
